  • Excellent for use with plant lights and easy to use.
I now have several of these that I use for my plant lights. The timer works well and is very easy to set up. It has 4 outlets that can be used with the timer and 4 that are always on. If your power goes out for an extended period it's simple to rotate the dial to the current time and it's good to go. For my purposes the cord could be a little longer but at approximately 45 inches it still works well. ... show more

  • Works well
Handy devuce for reptile cage to automatically turn lights on and off. Make sure the switch on the side is in the right place otherwise the timer side will not function as a timer. It took a minute to get it dialed in.

  • Plant Lifesaver
The BN-LINK 8 Outlet Surge Protector with Mechanical Timer is an absolute lifesaver! The mechanical timer is super easy to set up, allowing me to automate my plant lights super easily. The surge protection feature gives me peace of mind while I'm out here in middle TN. With 8 outlets, it provides plenty of space for all my devices, and the build quality is solid. It’s perfect. Highly recommend this product for both functionality and convenience. ... show more

  • Great!
This was pretty awesome. Easy to set up. Works great for our bearded dragon tank. UV lights are on the timer, on in morning, off at night. Heat lamps are on 24/7. Was great when we went out of town for 2 days because we didn't have to worry about someone turning the lights on and off!

  • Love this
I grow plants in nearly every room in our house and this makes the plants so happy! I can use heavy duty lights with no problem. Also have fans hooked up to the timer. Works great! I used to use the smaller timers but they got super loud and this is so quiet I forget it exists. I have come back here over and over to keep buying them as I acquire more plants. Help - our house is turning into a jungle. Just kidding. I'm going feral in this jungle and I love it. No help needed, except from these surge protectors, who make it easier to be a woodlands creature in my own home. ... show more

  • Worth every penny
This timmer is very easy to set up, and I love that I can also use plugs for items that need to be on all the time. Fits perfectly where I need it and made of good durable materials.

This unit has intuitive design and was easy to set up right out of the box. We connected our modem gateway🚦so that Mon-Fri NO 🚫streaming /NO 🚫late-night- sneak-bingeing is possible. Instead, the kids are steered toward other activities and 😱even READING 📚 before bed./__/

  • Perfect for a lot of uses, especially a daylight cycle for plants, fishtanks, reptile enclosures
UPDATE: I bought my first one of these in May 2016; right around one year later it started making a really annoying constant clicking/grinding sound. It still works fine, just produces a very annoying noise. I noted in my original review that it made a soft sound before that most people didn't seem to hear at all; that sound is now a loud clicking that everybody in the room can definitely hear. The unit's in my bedroom so it's not a huge problem, but I probably do need to replace it; I have my computer desk in there and when I do any real amount of work in that room the noise gets pretty irritating if I don't drown the sound out with music or something. That was an older model, and this unit has since been updated; I ordered a second one in December 2016, and that one has labels on the lights so you know which side are the timed outlets, which is a great change. I also haven't had any trouble with that one suddenly making any sounds or anything else like that, but it hasn't been running as long, and it does make the same faint noise, so I'm a bit worried it'll eventually get loud, too. I think the problem is that the actual timing mechanism is manual, so it ticks faintly like a manual clock arm. I might look for a unit that has a digital control instead, to see if that works a bit better. Both of my units are controlling lights and misters for gecko enclosures, but are not placed where they can be exposed to moisture or anything else that might cause them problems, and only a maximum of half the plugs on any one unit are in use (I have gecko tanks in two separate locations in my house). I do still like these overall, but I wish the one hadn't had problems after only a year. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Using this for controlling lights/mister on a gecko terrarium and I'm loving it so far. (The mister is on its own independent built-in timer also, so the power strip is mostly controlling the lights.) I did have to read the instructions to figure out how to set the timer, but it wasn't too tough, and the included instructions are good. Here's what I especially love about this particular model, as opposed to the other outlet timer I have to control my other gecko terrarium devices: * Has a extension cable and you can wall-mount it. My other one is a small unit that plugs right into the outlet, and it's much more difficult to get to and reset, especially since it has a digital screen you have to be looking at pretty much dead on. This one I was able to mount at a nice height right on the wall, and since it's white against a white wall it's not very noticeable at all. (A similar one designed specifically for use with reptile equipment is incredibly bright green, so I like this option a lot better.) * Has both timed and untimed strips. I have this mounted next to the bookshelf my two smaller gecko enclosures are sitting on, and I can also plug in electronics to sit on my desk nearby, and some lamps I've mounted to the bookshelf itself (for the shelves that have actual books :D). So it's good for a lot of different things, not just the one or two devices you might want on a timer. * If you happen to not have anything you need timed at the moment, you can flip a switch on the side to turn the timed outlets to just be on and boom, you've got a regular power strip. This would be great for like if you're going away on vacation for awhile and want to plug some of your lamps into a timer to make it look like people are still coming and going to deter burglars. Just set up your lamps and whatnot for the timer, then when you get home, flick the switch to "constantly on" again and control your lamps manually. It'll also allow you to just turn your devices on the timer side on without having to reset your timer or anything, and then be able to flick it right back into timed mode. Really handy. * Seriously though the timer features are great for SO MANY THINGS. I would've loved to have this when I owned a fishtank.... put the filter in the always-on side, control the lights with the timer, etc. Would be awesome for controlling indoor grow lights for your herb garden or anything really where you might want to control lights specifically to a daylight cycle. I keep an odd schedule sometimes and this has been GREAT for giving my pet geckos a really consistent day/night lighting cycle. Cons: * Makes a very soft sound when it's turned on. This might not be a problem for everybody, several people I've asked can't even hear it, but when it's really quiet at night it can bug me a little because it's audible. Definitely wouldn't want to have it right next to my bed or anything. I'm super sensitive to electronic noises though, I can also hear the power packs on my phone and bedside clock making faint whining sounds a lot of the time and it's not awesome. But I don't know that there's anything the manufacturers can do about that either, and there's a good chance you won't ever even be able to hear it, so. * Wish it had actual labels beneath the lights to remind me which side is timed and which is untimed, because I always forget, but it's an easy fix; I just made my own with a labelwriter and slapped them on there, there's a nice space for it. (Update: The company has since revamped this power strip a little, and it now has labels for which side are the timed plugs, just as you see now in the updated pictures. Awesome.) * All four timed plugs run off a single timer, so if you need varying timed schedules, this won't work unless some of the stuff you're plugging in has its own timer. For me the pros REALLY outweigh the cons with this one; I absolutely love it and couldn't be happier with it. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review, but I actually use my products before reviewing them and I'm pretty religious about coming back to update my reviews if I experience any problems or anything down the line. ... show more
