  • Stones doing the blues as only they can!
2 album set came in a nice gatefold. Albums were flat and played great! Some creases on photos on inside record sleeve or it may have been a 5 star review. If you love the Stones you'll love this! Get it. Don't procrastinate!

  • By Far the Best of Mick, Keith and Charlie ( and Ron) in Years
First, I'm a musician and retired Recording Engineer so I come from that perspective. This album is RAW Blues at it's core. The Covers are not the most well known by many or as commercial as some but are some of the best blues songs of all times. I almost hesitate to call this a Rolling Stones Album. It's Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ron just doing what they do best. This was recorded in just 3 sessions with no gimmicks, no over production, no fancy effects. Just the boys in the Studio playing the blues and the entire album sounds like they were just having fun! Charlie's use of his beloved China Cymbal makes these tracks shine! Mick's vocals and blues harp are just outstanding. (Oh a little note: Mick does not play any guitar on this album, even though there is a picture of him on the inside cover playing one. This is a good thing because although Mick can play the guitar, the Blues is not his forte'). Keith is Keith playing the blues the best of the best, heped by Ron! Ignore any of the negative reveiws about the fidelity, this album was recorded and mixed to sound just as it does, to give the blues the sound it deserves. The Vinyl Disks I received were perfect. Ok with respect I will call this a Rolling Stones Album and certainly the best they have done in a VERY LONG TIME! Get it and enjoy! ... show more

  • Fantastic album of Stones' roots music
Blue & Lonesome is a dynamite album of covers done as only the Stones can do them, making them sound of the past but also as personal as any of their own compositions. The Stones have put their heart, body & soul into each track and this makes them as standout as any in their arsenal. Brilliant album, so happy they got it done. ... show more

  • It's not Muddy Waters, but this is 2017
Been waiting a LONG time for this album. It mostly delivers on my expectations. The vinyl is mastered and pressed extremely well. The cover art is extraordinarily boring - most bootlegs have much nicer packaging these days - but the quality of the materials is very high. Maybe the cover art will grow on me over time.... But The Stones playing favorite Chicago blues tacks with passion and edge is something that's wonderful to hear. Leaning hard on Mick's excellent, underrated harp blowing was a wise decision - the album is the better for it, and that approach leaves room for Ron, Keith (and sometimes Eric) to function as a hard driving riff machine, which is overall a very successful strategy. It's not Muddy Waters, but this is 2017. ... show more

  • Excellent "PURE" blues-rock album
Outstanding album! The 'Stones revert back to their blues-rock birth with this album. Though all of the songs are covers, they are incredibly well done. It amazes me that rockers as "well seasoned" as The Rolling Stones can still flat out rock! It is also very nice to see a new blues-rock album appear on the scene. Mick Jagger re-establishes himself as the greatest blues-rock singer in the history of music and the band really rocks behind his lead. If you are a fan of The Rolling Stones or just a fan of good old fashioned Blues-Rock, this is a must buy album. This sadly won't receive much in the way of air time on radio, so about the only way to hear this excellent album is to buy it. ... show more

  • Rolling Stones: Blue & Lonesome Vinyl LP
After a second pressing, I finally received my vinyl copy of Blue and Lonesome. First of all, the materials such as the gatefold and 180 gram vinyl were exceptional. The inner sleeves were very sturdy and inside was the download of the record. As far as the sound-FANTASTIC! The Stones did a great job of recording an honest LP of blues covers second to none. All in all, well worth the wait! UPDATE-July 2, 2020: Over three years later, “Blue & Lonesome” still sounds amazing as the first day we spun it! True and authentic blues-Rolling Stones style! The band did these old blues covers justice. This has to be one of our favorite Rolling Stones albums that they have ever released, can’t recommend it enough.🎧🔥 ... show more

  • Back to their roots?
I gave it 4, but it's IMO, the best Stones release in many, many years. Harkens back to the days when they did mostly covers. Raw/gritty, not a sonic gift to the fans...but truly good! Edit: After spending some time with this vinyl issue, I will add that it also offers cardio advantages. At approx 42 minutes spread out on 2 LP's - it is a workout getting up to flip/change so often Probably more efficient to just stand in front on the table? ... show more
