I like the fact that it not only has an HDMI output, but also AV and optical. It is replacing one I use with an older TV that doesn't have an HDMI input. The Blu-ray player also has aspect adjustments for playing non-wide screen videos and can upgrade playback of regular DVDs. I have no idea about the durability of this device since I just got it.     • Good for All Region DVDs
I purchased a Northern Exposure DVD set many years ago but it's a different region than the U.S., probably due to the music that was used in the original series. This was one of my favorite series as youngster and the music was a key component to my enjoyment of the series. I was thoroughly disappointed to learn that there were DVDs that are regionalized, meaning I couldn't play them on my existing DVD players and so haven't been able to watch them in all these years. This DVD player changed that since it is an all region DVD player (Blu Ray discs are limited to Region A/1 though). Set up was quick and simple with a few wires into the video/audio in/out jacks. The remote is responsive and does not need to be pointed directly at the player in order for it to work well (unlike my Samsung TV's remote) and the playback is quick, crisp, and sharp. The player is light and compact, it doesn't take up much space at all and can fit easily on top of the cable box. I have a bunch of movies that I have loaded onto USB thumb drives and this player will play them right off the thumb drive, allowing me to skip transferring them over from the thumb drives. Old school in nature this player will allow you to watch your old DVDs or to go out and load up on DVD movies at garage sales and relive the days of your youth! ... show more

    • Exactly what I needed
I still use DVDs because I still have them, why not. And I don't want to pay for another streaming services just to watch a movie I already own. I recently moved and my roommate owned the DVD player, thus I needed a new one. I liked that this can be connected HDMI or RCA which is a problem I had with the last player I bought, it was RCA only and the TV was HDMI only. It's more compact that I was expecting which isn't a bad thing. It took my 5 minutes to unpack, connect, put batteries in the remote, and start watching a movie. I had 0 issues and it is very responsive to the remote. This couldn't have been easier to connect and use. The movie played through with no freezing or skipping. The old school way to watch great movies. I have so many dvd movies that I haven't seen in a while. Although streaming is a thing, nothing beats popping in a dvd whenever you want. This is a great dvd player that's easy to use. I love the smallness of the player, making it easy to fit anywhere. Comes with all the necessary accessories to set the dvd player up fast. While DVD players aren't very common anymore, I still need one to watch my beloved TV Show box sets that I own. This was perfect for my needs, and was easy to set up and start using right out of the box. The discs played great, and it connected to my smart TV easily. I would consider this a standard size (not compact) player. I did rate this 4 stars due to the price.     • Plays whatever I put in it.
So far this has played everything I've put in it, from my store-bought Blu-ray disks to my burned DVDs. The buttons on the remote aren't set up very well so you'll have to see it to use it, but it works and gets the job done. Hopefully it lives a nice, long life. We'll see.

I got this blu ray player for our theater room because it had multiple outputs. I have the hdmi going to the projector but with the av cables, I'm able to use it to play video games on our older systems without having to try to wire everything up to the projector. It works very well for that purpose. Picture quality is okay and it plays dvds and blu rays with no issues as well. There's other options like putting usbs into it to play media too. ... show more
