  • Best torch for this size, perfect for soddering, brazing, and even cooking
A bit expensive for a torch, but until somebody makes a better torch, this is the best money can buy. After using it for 10 years, I finally broke it by dropping it onto a hard surface from about 5 ft. I bought a cheap 4-pack of mini torch lighters for half the cost of this torch as a replacement and all 4 of the mini torches have stopped working within 6 months, which has really made it really evident how good this torch is. The flame adjustment works well (unlike the cheap torches) and the piezoelectric doohicky sparks every single click. This torch also has a feature that allows you to keep the flame lit without depressing the fire button, and a base for the torch to rest stably on a surface, if for some reason you need a fixed source of flame. The only useful feature the cheap lighters have over this one is a transparent fluid chamber so you can visually assess the butane level. ... show more

  • Mini Torch with Attitude!
This is an awesome little torch! I bought it as a replacement for a torch (different brand than this one) that I had that was a piece of junk...I was nearly cringing thinking of all the possible scenarios where I would put out money once again and not getting a working torch...I am so happy to say that this torch meets and exceeds my needs! I am a professional artist and I demand a lot from my tools and this little torch is great! I took it out of the package as soon as it arrived, fueled it up (butane comes separately) and lit it off within a minute of fueling. It has a wicked hot flame and it is a compact size, making it easy to handle. The fuel lasts 30 minutes in this one, but that is okay, since it is so very nice to use! I recommend it for anyone needing a nice torch for bench top work! ... show more

  • UPDATE: Broke after a few months
**NEW REVIEW**: Scratch that, another one bites the dust. I honestly believe at this point there aren't any reliable torches available for daily use. OLD REVIEW: I was tired of all the countless butane lighters breaking or taking multiple clicks to light. It's wild how over saturated and underdeveloped the market is with cheaply made ones. I think Blazer has always stood out for their good quality. Was also tired of knocking them over constantly because they didn't have a base or were top heavy! Hoping this is the one that lasts, but only time will tell and I will update this review if so. ... show more

  • Firefox mini torch
I've had it about a week and it's doing its job nicely. I have used it outside on a mildly windy day and the wind was blowing the torch out. the flame is really small...I should have guessed, being a mini torch. but indoors I've have zero problems. the safety is easy with one hand. you can lock the flame on which is handy. **update** I've had this over a year now and it's going strong! I use it almost daily. still zero problems! BUT I've noticed some of my friends who use it, they have real trouble with the safety feature. i think it's easy to use. slide forward with your thumb, then press down. push the trigger to hold the flame on. trigger off for the flame to go off. boom. ... show more

  • Great torch!
I first want to say that this is a great torch, I was really impressed by the flame, the design, and the overall feeling of quality. As with any good thing, there are usually a couple negatives as well, but they are relatively minor. The first being the safety mechanism is a little bit awkward to use, but i remedied that by breaking it off with pliers. (very easy to do, it's just a small plastic tab) The second issue I'm having is that I've tried using 2 different brands of butane and both won't make a good seal on the filling nozzle. So I don't know if there is a specific butane this one likes, or what? If anyone has any tips for me in that regard, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Note I would like to add since I have been using it more: The flame level adjustment is fairly useless on mine, it has a long range from - to + but it really doesn't change it at all until you are almost all the way to - and it lowers the flame but its easy to accidentally lower it too much and put it out. So basically the flame is at the same exact level for about 90% of the range, and you have to carefully work within the 10% of the range if you want to lower the flame without putting it out. This is not a big deal to me, but I just wanted to let people know if they needed to utilize this feature. UPDATE: I have tried Calibri, Ronson, Coleman and Zippo brand butane. All of them partially work and you can get it mostly filled, but they don't make a good seal and a decent amount of butane escapes every time I fill it. It appears that the metal intake on the torch is larger than the filling nozzle on most butane refill bottles. So it can't really make a good seal and as a result, some butane is lost in the filling process. I'm still hoping someone will eventually find one that works well and let me know. Also just to clarify I have several butane lighters and I've never had this issue, so it's not a user error. ... show more

  • Good torch, not built for daily use
I wish that I could give this torch a 5 star review, as I really loved it when I first received it. For the first four to six weeks, it was amazing, but it cannot stand up to daily use. I had some trouble with the locking mechanism at first, but after some practice it was easy enough to figure out. Then came the leaks. At first it was just a tiny bit of air escaping during a refill, and then it kept growing with each refill. I have tried several different brands of butane, all with the same result. It appears to be an issue with the size of the nozzle on the torch itself. Short bursts of butane seem to work best for refilling, but some gas is still lost. But then the torch itself broke. The black plastic that encloses the tank has come unglued from the top. It would appear to snap back into place, but there is no way to make it stay without gluing. The holes around the screws in the bottom are too large, and it slips right off. So disappointed, as performance wise it's a great little torch. I recommend it if you use it occasionally, but not if you need this torch daily as it isn't designed for it. ... show more
