These blinds are high quality and look very nice. They come professionally packed, they're easy to assemble, and assuming you get your measurements correct, they're easy to install. The most difficult part is getting the tension right on the blind cords. The instructions don't say very clearly how to do this. First, assemble the blinds. If you have it set up against a wall or something, you will see the blind just slams closed. Open the blinds all the way and have a helper hold it open, or use a piece of string or something to keep it from sliding closed. Loosen the screw connected to the plastic tab and string in the bottom of the frame. I usually loosen it nearly all the way, then use the tip of the screwdriver to slide it towards the center of the frame. You'll encounter a surprising amount of tension pretty quickly-- so don't let the string snap it back. Using two screwdrivers helps, since you can keep the tab where you want it while you tighten the friction screw again. It take a certain amount of testing and resetting to get the tension correct- you want it tight enough that the blind stays where you set it, whether halfway open or fully open-- but you don't want so much tension that it's difficult to open or close. ... show more

When I saw this product on Amazon, I thought it was a very nice looking , quality product. In this case, looks are totally deceiving. These blinds are junk! I have done home projects like this all my life with not much problem. This was very bad. The ends kept falling off, the shade slides all over and out of track when trying to install. They are not meant to be installed in a ceiling , for a skylight. There were no directions( even though I could figure it out) ,but it would have been nice. They cost a heck of alot, so I thought they would be good quality. I was wrong . Also, I can not get a refund! I have spent thousands of dollars as a loyal Amazon customer. This was a slap in the face. I will be doing alot more in store shopping for now on. ... show more

The shade was perfectly made to fit my Velux skylight. Simple design but very affective in blocking out the sun. Customer service was exceptional. Worked tediously with me through the measurements. I will be ordering more of these in the near future. Follow Up - As I mentioned before the customer service is top notch! Needed something from them to fix a part I broke and they were very eager to help me. Part was shipped extremely fast and delivered to my door in days. This shade fit our window perfectly and looks great. The only down side is that they are a paper material and I didn’t realize this. The shade is for the bathroom and the widow leaks tiny drops on rare occasion that would make stains on the old paper shade we had up. I thought this was a material like regular blinds that I could wipe clean. Once this gets stained there is no cleaning it and I will have to replace it but for the high price I’ll end up going back to the old disposable paper shades I was using before. Update: I ordered a second shade from this seller and this time chose the light blocking option and once again it was a great fit! There was a little space between the window frame and the shade but that’s because our house is not perfect so we just added a little insulation sponge stripping around the edge and it was perfect! As for the shades being a paper material, I used plastic weather sheets over the windows before I put up the shades to keep any leaks from staining the shades.
