  • This is a really bright, long lasting portable camp lantern.
Size: One Size Color: OCTANE
I love this lantern. Originally, I loved the little Moji lantern - cheap and bright enough to light your table when hung from a tree branch just over the table, but then discovered it was really only good for overnight trips because the batteries wouldn't last longer than a few hours in a single evening. So, I thought I'd get the new bigger one with AA's instead of AAA's. But the more I looked at all the different lanterns at the store the more the kind of pudgy Moji Charging station grew on me. :) But eighty bucks seemed a bit much. Amazon had it for $60, so I bought one and now I love this lantern. Forget it as a charging station, it is kind of a waste when there are much more compact chargers with way more energy available for much less cost. But the capacity and brightness of this lantern as a lantern is terrific. It can light up a good chunk of campsite (more than my 'packable' coleman gas lamp did - at half the size) and do it for a few evenings - just on the lithium ion battery alone. I've never even dipped into the 4x AA's that are the reserve. Now I use it as a worklight, too, not just a camping light. Wherever and whenever you need a portable light, this lantern is there for you. Minor quibbles are that it doesn't seem to work with one of my 2 amp USB chargers, but others work fine and if you knock it over there's nothing to stop it rolling away. It's bigger and heavier than the original tiny moji of course, but it has the same nifty split ring hanger and you can still hang it from a somewhat beefier branch, but since it's brighter, you can hang it farther away. And it really is best hanging. The advantage to this over some of the stand lanterns is the semi-sphere light pattern. You can set it on the table in a pinch, but if you hang it, you get an even light everywhere below without lighting up the trees. Great area light when hung. ... show more

  • Works Great As A Light Or Charger
Size: One Size Color: OCTANE
I already had a LED light but found that it hurt my eyes if you got too close to it. I wanted a warmer light and this somewhat does the job but it isn't as warm as I had hoped but is better than other light. All functions work as stated and I did a test of the charging feature, this is how that went. I use an IPad Pro 9.7 inch for the test. I plugged it into rear port of charger and left it running for eight hours while I played mostly music but did some browsing a few times as well. If I play music and turn off the screen my tablet will run for almost two days with built in battery, but if I surf the internet, which uses a lot more power things change and so does the battery usage. Probably of all the things I do surfing will use the most after video. Using video and surfing will drain the battery the most. After plugging in the tablet which had 100% on the battery already I wanted to see if the charger would trickle charge into the tablet or just turn off like some chargers do when battery is full which can happen with some portable battery sources. This light/charger stayed on the whole eight hours, what I mean is that the light was off but the charger was engaged the whole time. If you were looking at the tablet you would have seen the battery display stay green in color and at 100% the whole time. I use these types of portable chargers to extend batter time in tablet and do a once a month full discharge to keep the battery healthy. My tablet is still getting the same amount of battery time as when I first bought it I am hoping to extend battery life by not completely discharging them everyday as some people do, so I supplement by trickle charging when possible. What I am doing in reality is sacrificing the batteries in the charger which are cheaper to replace then the ones in the tablet which aren't meant to be replaced since they are glued in and would cost a fortune to replace. After eight hours of normal use on my tablet I was surprised to fine that I had used less than half of the chargers rechargeable battery and I couldn't complain there. My tablet was still at 100% and I can use the charger again if I need to. Having a charger and a light works for me, I like duality when it comes to products like this. The weight and size is fine, smaller than expected and light output is good. Battery compartment for backup is fine, didn't realize that you can remove the double AA battery holder to put batteries in, just pull out and push in when done. I hope to use solar to charge this, don't see a problem in doing this. I'm glad to have this and can be used for different jobs. ... show more

  • Light only
Size: One Size Color: OCTANE
The light works and works great but the charging is crap. You plug it in and it stays charging for 1 minute then stops. Have to keep turning the light on and off to trigger the charge to start. What garbage!

  • 1 1/2 months old and broken
Size: One Size Color: OCTANE
Broke in 1 1/2 months, 2 weeks after return window closed. Worked good for one outing and now doesn't charge at all. Very disappointing for such a high-priced item.
