Great purchase for EMERGENCY & daily use. It does not take up much counter space, easy to use with one sliding motion, great durable quality, shines brightly & can be seen from far distances. It is also light weight & not a burden to carry. I have never tested it submerged in water, but it has been used in a light rainfall with no longer term issues. I live in a neighborhood not well lit, so this particular product is my "Go To" accessory for walking my dog in the evenings, taking out the trash & my grandson's enjoy playing with it on their sleepovers. ... show more

    • Fantastic lights at a bargain price; I love them
I bought a four-pack of these Etekcity lanterns years ago and I love them. In fact I returned here today to purchase some more of them for a couple of my relatives. I have used mine for power outages due to severe winter weather and thunderstorms and these lights performed beautifully and illuminated the entire downstairs. One of my neighbors actually came over and asked if my electricity had somehow been restored and of course I said no, and that I have these awesome lanterns that throw a surprisingly amount of nice white light. He thought I had somehow had my power restored or that maybe I had a generator running because my downstairs looked so bright. He was so impressed that he ordered a four-pack of them too. I particularly like that the hue of these lanterns is a "cool white" which is a very white light; not that awful yellowish tint which I cannot stand. These are a nice white light similar to a fluorescent light. I'm pleased that these little lanterns throw a lot of white light. And the batteries will last quite a while too. I ran one of mine as a test for close to 50 hours non stop to see how long the batteries would last. I have Eneloop high capacity rechargeable batteries installed in mine and it works out very well as those are a very low self discharge type of battery and they hold their charge extremely well. LED's don't use a lot of "juice" so you'll get a lot of bang for your buck with these lanterns. You certainly cannot beat the price of them.     • Good product with some quality control issues
Lantern seem well-made and put out a good bit of light for their size. I really like the fact that they run on AA batteries, and that there’s a storage location (either for spare batteries, or a place in which to store the set you plan to use to prevent the batteries from leaking all over the battery compartment). Unlike some reviews I read, these are made from ABS plastic rather than metal, which is fine for me. There are still very durable. You have to be careful when replacing the battery compartment door… It is very easy to cross thread the screw on lid. With a little care, the lid goes on fine and keeps the compartment watertight. I had to order these twice. The first time only three of the four lanterns actually worked. I did double check the batteries and they were fine, so some issue with quality control in producing the fourth lantern. The packaging itself was damaged, so it didn’t get damaged in the shipment. I initially tried to reach out to the manufacturers product support phone number, but the message that that number says you must deal with them via email… That’s a non-starter for me . I went through the return process with Amazon and they replaced with a new set of working lanterns. Taking off one star for the quality control issues and the issues reaching customer support. ... show more

These little lanterns are small and mighty! Effective for power outages and camping. They can be set on a table, carried or hung by the aluminum handles. These are LED, so a very bright blue cast. This is our second order of these lanterns. We live in an all-electric home in a rural area. Power outages are frequent during bad weather. These are lightweight, long-lasting, multi-use, bright, and very user-friendly. Just pull up the handles and voila light. No buttons, no fuss. Push the top back down, and the light goes out. Four in the box makes them perfect. Plus, they come with batteries, so you can get them up and running as soon as you open the box. More things I like are that they are small, have handles so they can be hung (casts decent light in a tent or dark room), and have a flat bottom so they can sit nearby. I have given them as part of hurricane/flood relief donations. I have two sets of my ownβ€”one spread throughout the house as part of our "power outage" plan and the other with my camping supplies.
