  • Very convient
Style: Barkbath Dual Use
First TL: DR Pros • Quick • Easy use • Not very loud • Easy setup Cons • Gets the floor and you wet • Not a fan of the scent of oatmeal • Hose is shorter than I would like Would buy again I am going to get the bad out of the way so we can end this on a high note. The bad is pretty simple, you will get wet and the floor will too. The unit itself is very leak proof but the nozzle where the soap and water come out has a habit of storing water so after you let go of the trigger and pull the wand away from the dog you get water and soap on you and the floor. This is easily mitigated by doing it laminate and wearing gym clothes to bath the dog. Also, the other issue and really, it’s a nonissue is the tanks could be slightly larger. I have a German Shepard and golden retriever and the water and waste tank seemed large enough to do one of the dogs only meaning if you had a dog larger than mine you may need to refill while doing the bath. There was some water left after each dog but not enough. Now for the good going back to my dogs I have an all-white German Shepard (Saddie) and chunky monkey golden retriever (Bailey.) Bailey was first as I knew she would be the easiest I did not do their acclimation they recommended I simply used the wand to brush her for a bit which she fell in love with then turned the unit on (which surprisingly was not very loud I would compare to the sound of a food saver instead of house vac) and she jumped for a second but was quick to want the brushing again and then the bath started with no issues. Took me about 20 minutes but 15 of those was because I was using the wrong size brushes. I did not read the guide before starting but if I did, they had a breakdown of which brush combo to use based off breed. Once I switched the correct brushes it was very quick. When we were done she was not dry as a bone but quite dry we did not even need a towel to finish her and she ran off to rub her body against every surface she could find (she does that after every bath or for that matter after getting even the slightest wet.) Now it was time for Saddie. Saddie is a full-grown German Shepard with the bravery of a pill bug she would rather run from anything then to deal with it. She hates vacuums and hates baths. Honestly, I thought this would be a disaster. The hose is not as long as I was hoping it was and the unit was quite close to her. We tried to calm her down but when I turned it on, she was unhappy. A few minutes later of playing with it and brushing her with it (She LOVES being brushed.) It became her best friend and when I turned it on, she jumped up but did not run. After brushing her with it for a bit she got comfortable and we were able to start the water. Here I expected the run again but she just sat there and let the bath occur. At one point we made the mistake of not clearing the nozzle where it created a suction backup. Then it got loud and well that was all we got to do. The good news is we were already done with the first two runs and were just making sure it was all good. It would cost me 60 bucks to take them to a groomer and they would be there all day less than thrilled this cost me 200 and judging from the shampoo dispenser looks like I will be able to do both of them 3 or four more times with that one bottle. It took me from set up, to acclimation, to my wife wanting to run it through my hair (Don't do it with the metal ones they don't feel good) to the bathing for two dogs maybe an hour? We love it but I think in the future I will get something besides the oatmeal (I am not a huge fan of the scent it’s not bad just think I prefer the other options.) That reminds me the smell. You know how after a bath the house smells like wet dog? Well after this probably because it’s not as much water the house does not smell of wet dog and we did this in our carpet living room. If you can't tell I recommend this product to anyone with dogs that is willing to dedicate a little bit of time to bath them while initial investment is large the return of not paying a groomer should start to pay dividends in the future. ... show more

  • Works surprisingly well and leaves pets hair nice and clean
Style: Barkbath Dual Use
I was torn about getting this. The old model had mixed reviews but this newer one seemed like it had improved on its issues so I decided to try it. I used the oatmeal shampoo that is made for the machine because my one lab has allergies. We ended up giving two full grown labs and a full grown Saint Bernard a bath with it. We put down a blanket in our living room and had the dogs stay on it during their bath in case there eas any puddling of water. We really didn’t need it. Except for a little bit of water that dropped from the front where the comb is it did a great job of distributing the water/shampoo and sucking it back in. We had less dripping with the labs but I think it’s because of the long hair on the Saint Bernard which required more water/shampoo being distributed. I took some trial and error to get the right comb combinations but once we figured that out it was easy to use and all three dogs were fine with the noise the machine made. None of them required extra drying and their coat felt only slightly damp. Their fur was soft and felt and smelled clean afterwards. The machine was easy enough to rinse out when done. My only complaint was the amount of dirty water that the unit holds. The container itself is huge but there’s a line about 1/4 of the way up and that’s the fill line. Once you hit the fill line the unit shuts off and you need to empty it out. Not a real big deal but the first time it shut off we were confused and thought it was clogged somewhere because the dirty tank had so much room left in it. Once we figured out why it was shutting off we just kept an eye on it and cleaned it out quicker. Overall I’m very pleased with the product and love that their baths can be done in the living room. ... show more

  • Love this, so does my cavalier!
Style: Barkbath Dual Use
I have a cavalier king charles spaniel (best thing on the planet, I love him), and this bark bath is truly amazing. I like to keep things clean, but I also like to have him play and get dirty. I tried paw rinsers and those pretty much all sucked, even the ones that were highly rated on amazon, as they still left a dirty residue on the paws that would get tracked around. This on the other hand removes all the mud, dirt, etc from his paws which is awesome. Of course, for the full-on bath time, my cav and I love it as well. We used to wash him in a bathtub, and there was SO MUCH water wasted, and he came out SOPPING wet. He hated it, so very, very much. This uses hardly any water, and where he is damp, he isn't close at all to being sopping wet. He hates being sopping wet, so using the bark bath is perfect. Plus, the shampoo is excellent, and hardly any is used up after each full bath (cavs are small dogs). I use the "Fine" and "Medium" heads which do the job well. Also, when tub bathing him I would always be concerned about water entering his ears, but not anymore! The hose really does provide the precision to allay this concern. Water can get on the floor while using this and you can get a bit on yourself too, but duh, you're giving your dog a bath? I don't understand some of the reviews at all. Just put a towel down at the spot you bathe the dog like the instructions say, don't wear clothing that you'd wear on a fine-dining date while washing the dog (unless that's your thing) and you'll be fine. Docking stars because a tiny puddle of water got on the floor is stupid, and also shows that either the towels they are using suck, they aren't using towels at all, or they are just entitled snobs. /shrug. I also followed the desensitization instructions included, to make my little guy accustomed to the noise, which worked well. Lastly, the self-cleaning function is amazing. It's the best thing ever. After the whole bath ordeal, you just switch nozzle heads, turn the machine on and run it for a bit, and boom, done. Hose is cleaned. I hate cleaning hoses, and this solved the issue. Nozzle cleaning and tub cleaning is super easy as well, just dump out the dirty water, rine out the tank, and then rinse the heads and air let dry. All together, much quicker than: prepping and using tub, washing dog with shampoo in tub, towel drying soppy dog, hot air drying said soppy dog, then cleaning dirty tub and putting away nasty towel and hot air dryer. Also uses much less of my own energy, since like my cav, I am a sleepy one and run on low energy. So this is quicker and much less of a hassle. Such a good machine! ... show more
