The first safe I received would not open unless I held it upside down; the slide was binding on one side, and the paint had been scraped off from the rubbing. I notified Amazon, and a replacement was sent promptly. Everything works now, and the slide is very smooth. After installing batteries, the fingerprint scanner and keypad function appropriately. So far this little gun safe is working as it should. It's quick to assemble and install, but READ THE DIRECTIONS!!!! If you do anything out of sequence, you have to start over. Programming is easy, but I suggest you program this to more than one finer on EACH hand. It's typically reliable, somewhere in the mid 90% range, but in a time of crisis, make sure you remember your pass code and have your key somewhere you can find it.     • Quieter than most gun safes, good features, easily customizable interior.
This is probably the most quiet and functional pistol safe I have encountered. Of the four I currently have, I like the features on this one the most. Five stars for user empathy, good features, and customizability. The spring loaded drawer opens smooth and quiet, the only noise being the motor spinning. Having a mute feature shows empathy with the end users as the last thing I want when I need to grab a pistol late at night is loud beeping from my gun safe. Of the automatically opening gun safes, this type of design is the best in my opinion. No loud clunking or bright lights illuminating the room. The biometrics work quite well and I appreciate having a combination in case I need it. The use of AA batteries as well as their convenient location is also a win, as my previous safe used 9v and it was always a hassle to find one and get it installed. The illumination is sufficient without being overly bright. I personally prefer red light and replacing the blue LED with a red one was trivial if you have the tools or a friend who can solder. People wanting a less bright light can easily tuck semi-opaque material (cotton ball, tissue paper, etc...) inside the hole in the foam where the LED shines out of and get a similar effect. It is also super simple to just remove the LED entirely by removing the drawer and just unplugging it. Opening the unit for installation was a little bit tough as the 'iron wire' spring could not be removed without a punch tool. Once that had been resolved, the installation was simple and well described in the instructions. The included hardware is sufficient for most configurations. Installing the bracket should be done with a level to avoid any problems with the sliding drawer mechanism. Installing the rear thumbscrews required a bit of contortion but were accessible with some effort. Once mounted it is stable and secured in place. Be sure to leave some room in the rear to access the battery compartment though. The foam inside the container is adequate but needed to be customized for my needs. This was pleasantly simple. By default it should fit one pistol and one or two magazines. I was able to modify it with a hobby knife to fit an AR magazine, a speed loader, and a revolver that initially did not fit right. Users with full sized revolvers (or larger semi-autos) may run into a similar situation as I did where the handle of the pistol hangs up on the inside of the safe as the drawer tries to open. I fixed this by trimming out some of the foam which resulted in the revolver sitting a bit lower and thus clearing the safe body while opening. Persons with compact or sub-compact pistols should not encounter any difficulties like this. ... show more

I've been seeing this type of safe on YT shorts and throughout social media quite frequently recently, so I wanted to try one out. First off, the build quality is great. The safe is quite heavy, which could be either a benefit or disadvantage depending on where you plan on installing it. The biometric lock works, as does the code function. It deploys almost instantly, and does a nice job of keeping the pistol secure. Again, it depends on where you plan on installing it, but the biggest annoyance I've found with it is the location of the batteries. If you plan on installing it with it's back flush up against something, then you're going to have to remove the safe entirely to replace the batteries. The mute function is very useful, and the alarm on multiple failed attempts is also a nice inclusion. Can be mounted in several configurations to keep it locked down and easily accessible from your bedside, desk or vehicle! Love that it will sound an alarm if failed attempts to open it are made.
