After 120k miles the OEM Rancho shocks in my 2015 Silverado 1500 Z71 were tired, which led to a lot of bounce on the highway when towing. If I hit a pothole or sharp bump I could feel the back end of the truck bouncing, leading to having to correct with steering to keep the truck straight. I was going to get OEM Rancho replacements but started reading good things about these Bilstein 5100's. As an added bonus, these were cheaper. The install was extremely easy and took me about 30 minutes in total without even jacking up the truck. Now the truck rides much smoother, but slightly stiffer than the stock shocks, with no bounce when towing and no more hopping in the rear on the same potholes and bumps. Had Rancho RS900Xl (hereby known as the worst shock absorber ever in my opinion) shocks for less than a 6 months. Item never "fit" (correct item # for application, check 3 times). Clunky noises, horrid ride. The Bilstein 5100's ride fantastic, NO CLUNKY NOISES!!!! Bummed I wasted $$$ on the Rancho's. Super happy with the Bilstein's!!!! ... show more

    • Worth the money, great for towing
My 2016 Silverado 1500 (83,000 miles) was bouncing front to back with small loads. This stiffened the suspension and I immediately could feel the difference with just the replacing the rear shocks. Rears were very easy to replace, did not need to jack up to remove the old shocks, just had to jack up a few inches to install as they are hard to compress. Had my mechanic install the fronts because you need a spring compressor. Towing my 7000 lb travel trailer is much easier, even my wife noticed the difference as a passenger. ... show more

Replaced my worn out oem shocks on my 2015 Silverado. After a lot of research, everything pointed to the 5100's. After installing them, the truck immediately felt more balanced and stable. The shocks were stiffer, but soaked up the bumps/rough roads far better and made the ride far more comfortable. The sturdy design and rubber boot means they will stand the test of time. Replaced my OEM rear shocks with these and they are much stiffer.. Better over bumps and the bed doesn't feel like it's floating or teeter tottering, not end all shocks but much improved. Install is easy but make sure you have the damn strength to push the shock up and get the bolt through... I had the compression strap on but still had to push it up few inches and thread the bolt through.. turned a 10 minute job into an hour. ... show more

I installed these Bilstein 5100 series shocks on the rear of my 2014 GMC Sierra. My stock Ranchos were in pretty rough shape but honestly, I've never thought that they provided a good ride... haha. These Bilsteins are a quality shock, this is apparent when you pull one out of the box. My belief was confirmed with the first test drive. I've installed matching 5100 coil-overs in the front as well and will write a review on those soon. I have posted a "how-to" video on YT for anyone who may want to see the installation process. Search YT for "How to Replace Rear Shocks on a GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado Replace Rancho W\ Bilstein 5100 Series" and look for a similar image to the one I've posted with this review. If you need new shocks, I would highly recommend these Bilstein 5100. After replacing both front and back shocks with Bilstein 5100s, I'm ready to take my Sierra to Virginia International Raceway! ... show more

    • Good quality but I didnt notice a ride difference.
These are good quality shocks but I didn't notice any difference in ride compared to the Rancho's that came with the truck. Still though, I have had Bilstein's before and they lasted forever. I suspect these will too.
