It still works, but you will get some white showing when you tie it. It's a decent accessory for your dog, but you may want to consider something else if this style of manufacturing doesn't meet your needs. This bandana is very soft on the side without text, so it doesn't seem to bother the dog at all. I prefer to tuck/ tie these on their collars rather than do a full wrap, but I can say that this would NOT tie around our medium to large dogs' necks comfortably.

The material was soft and easily tied around her neck without being too tight. Not once did she try to remove it.
