Description

Cat in the Box: Deluxe Edition is the quintessential quantum trick-taking card game for 2 - 5 cool cats, where your card’s color isn’t defined until you play it! Hypothesize how many tricks you will win and record your bid. Place tokens on the community research board as you play your hand and connect large groups of tokens to score even more points. Plan your tricks carefully as you cannot claim the color of a card with the same number that has already been declared. Doing so would be pawsitively catastrophic as you have just created a paradox! New Deluxe Edition features: Supports 2-5 players High quality geekbits-style plastic tokens Recessed player boards Recessed Center Research board Score pad Custom plastic insert to keep Cat in the Box: Deluxe Edition tidy!

  • Great and imaginative trick taking game
This is a wonderful and confusing game. The idea is that its a fairly simple trick taking game where you predict how many tricks you'll take each round and gain points based on how accurate your bid is. However, the game then goes a step further. The cards themselves don't have a suit. There are 4 suits that can be played, but the player decides on the suit played as they play the card, with the provision that no suit/number combination can be played twice in a round, and the warning that while there are only 4 suits, there are 5 cards of each number. It is common to get to the last 2-3 hands and discover that you have no viable plays, which ends the round and penalizes the player who cannot play a card. Very strategic yet simple to play as there isn't a lot of rules. but also not easy to win as much of the scoring depends on getting so much right each round. I really enjoy this game and hope to introduce it to my family in the future as they like trick taking games. ... show more

  • Awesome easy game to play with friends and family.
This is a great game to play with friends and family, is a trick taking game with a twist, is not complicated at all.. you might not get it the first time you play until you see the first scoring... the good thing is, this a quick game so you will find tourself playing several times in a row.. is good with 2 player count but it shines with more players... components are just too awesome. The only criticism I have is that cards have black borders and are not top quality if you play them much the edges will chip, but that is fixed right away if you sleeve them... The box say this game is for 14+ but I played this with my 8 year old kid and he catched up fast.... ... show more

  • Great 4-person game
Easy enough to learn in one sitting, fun and aesthetically pleasing. Great little addition to a game night that doesn’t reward the same folks who usually win ;)

  • Fantastic game
It really makes you think about what you’re going to play, we gameschool/homeschool and it’s great for teaching kids strategy. Loved it so much we bought another copy and gifted it to our friends.

  • Very fun game with great replay value
This is a trick taking game. I've only played with 5 players in the game, but it works 2-5. If you played bridge or hearts then it should be easy to learn. Games take 1 - 1.5 hour for 5. I like the quality of the cards, board and the tokens. Convenient to carry around. Great replay value. Cute designs. ... show more

  • Fun game
It was a little confusing trying to figure out. The instructions are written very strangely and don’t make sense at some parts. We watched a YouTube video of how to play and the game ended up being really really fun :)
