Description

The Benro GH2 Gimbal Head is a specialized tripod head designed for photographers who want comfort, stability and smooth control with their heavier zoom lenses. This is something that you just can’t get with the standard ball head. The GH2 allows you to rotate your lens around its center of gravity enabling easy manipulation of large lenses up to 600mm. If its sport or wildlife photography, maneuverability and speed are two very important factors which the Benro GH2 supports, allowing photographers to capture those all important unpredictable moments. It comes with a QR plate which can be quickly removed by turning the knob on the side. The lens is set flat when using the GH-2, whereas a lens attached to the GH-1 is in an upright position. The GH2 is compatible with the international-style QR plates such as the Arca Swiss and the Benro PL Series special lens plates.

  • Transitioning from a fluid head to a gimbal head
Size: GH2
There is no going back to a fluid head after using a gimbal head. Still shots are not that big a deal for either head. However, videos are. I would highly recommend this product. Those that have more experience than I do might have a different opinion. I bought this after watching 3 reviews on various gimbal heads. All great advise. So much smother than a fluid head. No jerk when starting to move the head like the fluid head does. Adjusted correctly, I think you'll enjoy this product. The trick is balance and centering the camera in the X & Y axis of the gimbal head. ... show more

  • So I bought the GH1
Size: GH1P
So I bought the GH1.... I wanted a gimbal for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica. It needed to be light, not bulky yet good and inexpensive....im not a big birder but I wanted a half way decent one for this trip to mount a Tamron 150-600. The side mount fit the bill vs the bottom mount. Don't believe them when they say that a side mount is hard to mount....its not. I also saw some reviews where they said you needed a good sturdy tripod to mount this.... you might in some situations but I have mine on my Manfrotto 290 "Travel Tripod and it seems sturdy enough. I plan on hiking in the rain forest and don't want to carry around a big heavy tripod or monopod, it all needs to secure to a small/medium sized camera backpack. Anyway , back to this one...I love it. Its holding my camera and lens combo nicely. Im not sure how much I will like the arm that attaches to the gimbal but so far its not in the way as I had feared. So if your in the market for a Gimbal, get this one... I read that it has been discontinued by Benro. ... show more

  • Seems to work great - no wobble
Size: GH2
I just received my new Benro GH2 Gimbal head and installed it on my Benro tripod. I attached my Nikon D500 with the 200-500mm lens and there's no wobble. It moves easily and appears to work just like it is designed to. My first gimbal head was a gift of an ST-360 and it wobbled unless it was tightened enough to prevent any movement. I contacted the company and they sent a replacement and let me keep the first one, but the replacement of the ST-360 was exactly like the first one. It just didn't work. Since I've been very pleased with my Benro Mach3 tripod, I decided to spend $320 on amazon for the gimbal head that was selling for $355 on other sites. My first impression is very positive. I'm new to gimbal heads and don't have anything to compare it to, but so far it looks like it will work without wobble. ... show more

  • Good unit but not for me
Size: GH2
I purchased this to use with a 200-600mm lens. I was upgrading my tripod and decided to go with a gimbal. I do mostly landscape photography but having a fluid panning and up/down movement appealed to me, plus the unit looked as if you could balance your setup on it perfectly. First, it is Big and expensive. Well constructed and designed. What I found out however that balancing my lens/camera required turning friction knobs like a ball head. Getting it balanced was a frustration and I could not achieve a balance along with smooth motion not matter how hard I tried. It may be more for wildlife photography or video, but I just couldn't find the advantage over a good quality ball head at half the price. So I returned it and am replacing it with a strong ball head. This may be a great gimbal, but it didn't work for me for just landscape photography ... show more

  • Finally got to test it out.
Size: GH2
Didn't do so well using it on a monopod but that was not the fault of the gimbal. Maybe on a tripod would be better for me. Very sturdy and flexible as far as moving up/down and sideways. Recently got to use it at a local wildlife refuge area. Great for stationery birds or any other object for that matter. The trick for me in using the gimbal is following the flight path of the high flying birds. I need to practice the technique in getting those types of bird shots. This gimbal is a big asset in opening up my photography. I recommend buying a gimbal and this one in particular was a good investment. ... show more

  • The Benro Carbon Fiber 2 Series Gimbal Head (GH2C) is on point
Size: GH2C
After getting this item I had to hurry up and try it..... I shoot with a Nikon P1000, P900, Canon 5d, and a Canon 40d, they each have some weigh to them and I needs something solid when mounted on a tripod. I tried the SLIK (SGH-300) did a great job for the P900 until you extend the lens to 2000mm then the camera would droop downwards slightly making it hard to stay on target when you have the camera keeping straight, I didn't have a chance with the P1000 with the 3000mm lens. So I got this bad boy got it on my tripod and it works like it should. No matter if you have the lens point straight, up or down, it does not move or shake..... Money well spent ... show more

  • Excellent quality and value
Size: GH2
I am an amateur/Enthusiast photographer and I did a lot of searching and research before purchasing this Benro GH2 gimbal head. The order arrived on time and was well packaged and in my opinion is of excellent quality material, engineering and build quality. As an amateur I couldn't justify spending $600 or more for a gimbal head and I wanted one for wildlife shots with a large telephoto lens. This hit my radar and after careful consideration I decided to go with it. I have never owned or used a gimbal head and after properly setting this up I am very pleased with it. As with some other reviews, I find the "panning" a little tight, but it doesn't really impact the performance or use and I expect it to loosen as I use it. It is rock solid with no wiggle or movement. Only time will tell as to longevity and durability, but I expect to use and enjoy this for many, many years. ... show more

  • Sometimes you need to spend money, but not too much
Size: GH2
This costs more than budget gimbals but less than other top of the line models. I read to many iffy reviews on the budget models but could not swing the cost on the other end of the spectrum. This gimbal is right smack dab in the middle. It’s smooth. Built well. And doesn’t quite break the bank, but you may have to save first. I use it mounted on a monopod and supporting a vintage canon 500mm f/4.5 w/G9 and have an overall positive experience. Don’t regret going with cheaper options and don’t feel the need to upgrade either. So I think I’m in a good place with this purchase ... show more
