  • Good Protection
Size: L
I bought this suit for protection to remove bees from my barn owl box. I bought this suit after seeing the reviews; it worked great! I suggest going a size above your clothing size as it's sized slightly smaller, especially if you are wearing a light jacket or pants under it. The suit provided great protection and provides a good seal between you and the bees. The package came with gloves, too. ... show more

  • Did exactly what I needed it to.
Size: XL
I never write reviews, but this product was truly and inspiration. Please, join me on this journey. During my wife's pregnancy she accidentally stepped into a yellow jacket nest whilst gardening. I was away taking a certification exam for my profession, so I didn't see her calls and messages until two hours later! She wrote "call me when you can" ... uh, okay, will do ... So I call her, and she says to me "don't freak out, but I'm at the urgent care" - to which, naturally, I begin to freak out. My wife and our baby were completely fine, but she has been stung over a dozen times all over her body by the swarm that erupted from the ground underneath our garden pallet. It was only a couple days after we started looking at pest removal services to remove the menace from our garden. These little demons were running the show back there. Some pest control services wanted around $300 to remove one nest! I talked them down to $200 but it was still an outrageous price. I w(O)n't name the company, but they (R)eally don't (K)now what (I)t's like livi(N)g in fear of tiny stinging devils just yards from your backdoor. My wife and I decided to research at-home methods of yellow jacket removal. Not long after, our dog comes back into the house from a bathroom break with hives spreading across his swollen face and his entire body. A benadryl and two doggy baths later, we decide that I finally need to remove the nest myself. There was no time to wait for some over-priced corporate treatment that may or may not work. We needed a guaranteed solution. I went to a local pest control store - awesome dude, great service - and he set me up with some potent poison that would massacre the mean little fools terrorizing my family. I had the poison, the sprayer, and I knew where the nest was. All I needed was protective gear - this is where the bee suit comes in. THIS suit offered me the necessary protection to storm the gates of the yellow jacket bastion. I used one hand to operate the sprayer and provide suppressive fire as I lifted the garden pallet and tossed it aside. The haze of yellow jackets clouded my vision but not a single sting was stung. I sprayed them down as I searched for the nest itself, swatting away my assailants, searching for the perpetrators that harmed my wife and dog. I was on a warpath and this bee suit was my impenetrable armor of the day. Eventually I located the nest in the ground and nuked it. I poured some gasoline into the hole and used a leftover fence picket to jostle the ground, stir around the death mix of gasoline and insecticide, and to bust open the hive. The swarm slowed, the flurry of frenetic drones gradually succumbed to the poison. My victory was finally at hand. I dug up the nest and left it out for any survivors to look upon in horror. I'm just kidding, what survivors? I spent the next 10 minutes scouring my backyard looking for, and spraying any remaining yellow jackets. They tried to hide under logs, behind the shed, even in other parts of the garden... some would return to the nest as I walked away only to be caught in a deluge of acid rain from the sprayer. It was done. The picture is me with a piece of the hive. I made sure they knew who won. I won. All thanks to this suit. TL;DR Great suit. Buy one size bigger than you think you need. Wear long sleeves and pants under for extra protection just in case. Most of the time yellow jackets won't even land on you. 5/5 ... show more

  • Amazingly good for the price
Size: XXL
I was clearing brush along our fence and stepped on 2 different yellow jacket nests (1 week apart) so I was tired of getting stung. I was not able to find the entrance to one of the nests, the other was dealt with fairly easily. I got this suit and was able to take a rake out to stir the brush and beat the ground until I could see where they were coming from, went back after dark and killed the nest. Since then I put the suit on to check a new area, pounding the ground and moving brush around to see if there is any swarming activity. I have been really paranoid and it puts my mind at east to be able to work in the area without the suit. Fit: I bought the XXL size. I am 5'11"/195 pounds. Because I am so paranoid I wear a hooded sweatshirt to make a little extra space between my skin and the outside (yellow jackets are said to have about a 3mm stinger). When I first tried the suit on it seemed like the side of the hood could touch my ears so that is the reason for the hooded sweatshirt. I sometimes wear a ball cap underneath to keep the suit's hood pushed forward to keep space between the mesh and my nose. When I went looking for the nest they did swarm around me, landing on the mesh with their stingers pushed toward me. With the hooded sweatshirt on under the suit is is just big enough for me. Sleeves are a little short (a problem I have with regular clothes as well), the gloves have a long gauntlet with elastic at the end but it seemed like there was an exposed area at my wrists with just the cloth part of the gloves for protection. My hands were stung both of the times I encountered the yellow jackets so I wanted to be sure to provide some extra safety space at my wrists. I cut the cuff off an old pair of thick socks and wear them under the gloved to cover the area between the bottom of the sleeves and where the leather of the gloves start. Quality: Considering the price and what this suit does I am definitely not complaining, I couldn't quite give it 5 stars. The first time I used it the seam on one of the gloves started to separate at the elastic cuff. I carry a can of aerosol insecticide in one of the pockets and it started to come loose at the stitching as well. Both were very simple fixes sewing by hand. If you have to deal with yellow jackets I HIGHLY recommend this suit to be able to safely find and deal with them. ... show more

  • Not tall enough for DH
Size: XXL
I purchased DH a bee kit that came with a bee suit. I was sure the bee suit that probably would be in the kit would be too small for DH (who is about 6' tall). So I purchased this suit (which was definitely a larger size). Sadly it was still not large enough for him (height wise). His ankles were still exposed. If you are a first time bee keeper and plan to use this suit ... if it is too short, I suggest you use tape or high top boots to keep the skin from being exposed. Try reaching up to see if the suit moves up too. We received this suit on time and in great shape. We were very pleased with it, but DH did get stung several times through the gloves and legs of the suit. It is definitely not a guarantee of bee sting protection. ... show more
