Description

On a sunny morning, a beekeeper approached his apiary, ready to inspect the beehives. He retrieved an old brush, intending to gently remove the bees from the frames for easier inspection. However, he noticed that the bees seemed unhappy with the brush. They buzzed around, some even giving warning flutters of their wings. The beekeeper found this peculiar, as the bees had never reacted this way to the brush before. He pondered the possible reasons for their discomfort. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the bristles of the brush had become stiff and rough from previous use. It dawned on him that the bees' aversion to the brush might stem from the discomfort it caused them. Determined to address the issue, the beekeeper promptly sought out a new brush with soft, comfortable bristles. With great care, he used the new brush to gently usher the bees off the frames, and the bees cooperated quietly. From that day forward, the beekeeper understood a valuable lesson: quality tools are essential for successful beekeeping. He resolved to pay closer attention to the quality of his equipment, ensuring that his bees could live comfortably and safely in his apiary. In turn, the bees grew to trust and appreciate him even more for his thoughtful consideration of their well-being. Product Specification: Package: 1 bee brush Material: horsehair, wood Size: 13.8"L x 3.5"W Tip: Friendly reminder: After the bristles are stuck with honey, you can clean them with warm water and mild detergent, and then air dry to ensure normal use next time.

  • The two tools that should be in every beekeeper's toolbox!
Color: Brush+J Hook
I ordered the J-Hook and brush combo. These are two tools that every beekeeper should have in their bee toolbox. The J-Hook is a standard metal hive tool. The quality is excellent and will last you for YEARS if taken care of properly. In fact you'll probably lose it before it fails you, so it's always good to have another as a backup! The brush has a nice length to it and the bristles are secure and soft. The bees will appreciate that! The brush has a wedge on the end, but I would use caution trying to use that to separate boxes or frames. The wood on the brush doesn't appear to be of hardwood, and might break easily if used to exert pressure on something. However, with the right care this brush will last many years as well. If you're a new beek, or a seasoned one like myself, you can't go wrong with these. The combo was $9.99 at the writing of this review and that's a fair price for this tool combo. The brush by itself was listed at $6.99. ... show more

  • Much smaller than brushes I've used before, but still does the job.
Color: Brush
This brush is smaller than all the bee brushes I've seen before but seems to work well. It has a single row of bristles made of horsehair that are somewhat stiffer than the multiple rows of fine, soft, synthetic bristles in most brushes. Overall the horsehair bristles do a fine job of gently sweeping bees aside, apparently without harming them. The only thing I don't like is that the handle part of this brush is thin and short. This doesn't interfere with it's function, only with the operator's comfort. I will probably extend and build up the handle in some way once I figure out the best way to do it. In spite of this, I recommend this brush. ... show more

  • Quality products
Color: Brush+J Hook
The hive tool and brush are both of good quality. The j hook hive tool is new to me and I'm eager to see how it preforms for me. I can definitely see how the j hook could make lifting frames out of the hive much easier. The other end kind of reminds me of a hatchet but I don't think chopping is its intended purpose. The brush has very fine and long horsehairs and shouldn't cause any injury to the bees. The brush did have a few wild hairs but nothing as pair of scissors couldn't take care of. These two items as a pair are a good value. ... show more

  • Must Have
Color: Brush+J Hook
It's just not easy being a beekeeper without a hive tool. You'll lose one every so often so get multiples. Quality here is top notch. Metal is solid and points are sharp. I'm not saying it's any better or worse than other ones I have, it's exactly the same. But here's the kicker, it was cheaper AND it came with a frame brush too. So that makes it better. The brush is also of good quality and will help when I need to get those last few bees off before honey harvest ... show more
