I have been researching various mattress toppers for a while and decided to purchase this one due to the good reviews. I purchased this queen size topper for multiple reasons. Mainly because my mattress is almost 15 years old and really needs to be replaced when my budget will allow someday. Also, I need something firmer to alleviate my aching back every morning. This topper arrived quickly, in a large box, well packed, and with instructions for easy set-up. It didn't take long to put it in place, and it fit my bed perfectly. I tested it and loved the firmness and comfort immediately. However, there was a strong chemical smell that made me hesitant to sleep on it that night. The directions said that since it was condensed in compressed packaging, that it could take a day or two to get into proper form/shape before using. So, I figured that the smell would also go away during that time. But after 3 days with the chemical smell still obvious, I contacted Amazon. They told me that nothing could be done unless I returned it. But, I really didn't want to return it because it seemed like a really good topper. Disappointed with not yet being able to use it, I then contacted the BedStory company. They immediately responded and provided additional information regarding how the smell will go away and that it is made of all natural materials and 100% safe. In addition, they kindly provided me with a very nice partial credit back to my charge card and followed up with me twice! Such wonderful customer service! It has now been 8 days and the smell is very faint and will probably be gone within the next few days. I have been sleeping on it for the past 3 nights and 1 am very happy to say that it has been a relief for my old back. I sleep better and wake up feeling much better. Nothing will take away all of the aches and pains. But, this mattress topper has made a huge difference in my comfort. Hands down this was the BEST purchase made from Amazon in 2024! Our five year old Sealey pillow-top matress started to sink and we both began having back problems from it not being firm enough for our comfort. I read the review of this Extra Firm matress topper and spent a little extra for it and it was WELL worth it! High quality, very comfortable and deep fitted sheets work just fine. I bought this to put on a memory foam mattress that was just too soft. I love memory foam mattresses, but this particular mattress had practically no support. You just sunk into it and woke up all sore. I added this memory foam topper and I'd swear I was sleeping on a brand new mattress. Perfect! Much cheaper than buying a whole new mattress. Just received and have expanding now will put it on bed tomorrow, just a couple of things right out of the box I see nowhere is there bamboo in the cover as you can see on tag cover is 100% polyester. Nothing natural. As for the layers at this moment neither one feels firm or extra firm. I assume the firm layer is a tiny 1/2 in thick while the extra firm is approximately 21/2 in . Will see if they firm up for tomorrow night. Will update After sleeping on this topper I will give it 5 stars is nice and firm back pain has subsided my wife loves it to. Would recommend it if you need something firm, don't know the longevity of it but for the price I would purchase it again. ... show more

It’s firm and nice to sleep on. BUT it’s not 3 inches and that’s what I paid for. A 3 inch, queen size. I let it expand for a week, even though the manual said should expand to capacity in 48 hours.

I've read all the reviews and here's a few things that can be disputed. 1. Topper arrived odorless. 2. Fit perfectly over king size mattress. 3. Another reviewer indicated there may be bugs in the foam. Those are not bugs. That's the bamboo. Further, if you need a really firm mattress this topper is incredible. You do have to flip it over though. Common sense dictates you remove the mattress protector, flip the mattress over and put the protector back on. If you don't do this and simply flip the topper over you'll be sleeping on little bumps and zippers. Yeah, it's a lot of work on a king size topper but worth it. Hope all this helps. If this wasn't such a big thing to try to send back, I'd return it. The picture they show of the 3 inch topper has 1 1/2 inches of firm foam and 1 1/2 inches of extra firm foam. After 48 hours of setting out, 16 of them on top a warm electric blanket I measured the thickness. You can see that the total height is about 2 3/4 inches. The problem is the firm layer is less than 3/4 of an inch and does not appear to be very dense where the extra firm is over to 2 inches and is very very firm. The top layer is so thin and soft it like it doesn't exist. I have a bad back so I need firm mattress. I've also had both hips replaced so I need a little give for my hips and shoulders. I had an old 1.5 inch topper that I pulled out of storage and put it on top. This makes it useable for me until I find another sollution. Update: Bedstory contacted me about the problem with my topper. They said they were going to update the description of it on Amazon and refunded the cost of the topper for me. I have bought other toppers from them in the past without any issues. I raised the review to 4 stars for great customer service. ... show more
