I have been researching various mattress toppers for a while and decided to purchase this one due to the good reviews. I purchased this queen size topper for multiple reasons. Mainly because my mattress is almost 15 years old and really needs to be replaced when my budget will allow someday. Also, I need something firmer to alleviate my aching back every morning. This topper arrived quickly, in a large box, well packed, and with instructions for easy set-up. It didn't take long to put it in place, and it fit my bed perfectly. I tested it and loved the firmness and comfort immediately. However, there was a strong chemical smell that made me hesitant to sleep on it that night. The directions said that since it was condensed in compressed packaging, that it could take a day or two to get into proper form/shape before using. So, I figured that the smell would also go away during that time. But after 3 days with the chemical smell still obvious, I contacted Amazon. They told me that nothing could be done unless I returned it. But, I really didn't want to return it because it seemed like a really good topper. Disappointed with not yet being able to use it, I then contacted the BedStory company. They immediately responded and provided additional information regarding how the smell will go away and that it is made of all natural materials and 100% safe. In addition, they kindly provided me with a very nice partial credit back to my charge card and followed up with me twice! Such wonderful customer service! It has now been 8 days and the smell is very faint and will probably be gone within the next few days. I have been sleeping on it for the past 3 nights and 1 am very happy to say that it has been a relief for my old back. I sleep better and wake up feeling much better. Nothing will take away all of the aches and pains. But, this mattress topper has made a huge difference in my comfort. This mattress topper has greatly improved the comfort of a mildly worn mattress. The packaging was quality. This queen size topper has been placed on top of a regular spring mattress (not pillow top). The fit was nearly perfect. (Not quite as perfectly squared -off as the amazon photo). The topper is FIRM on the side that is the softer side. It is well made and substantial. It is could be cumbersome to get into the bedroom if you leave it out of the box to air out and expand to full size. We only aired it out for 6 hours before placing on the bed. The smell was minimal. The mattress expanded to full 3inch thickness. The cover that came over the padding is quality. We placed an additional waterproof mattress pad cover over the mattress cover. We did not notice any extra heat retention, however, it is winter. The mattress is a few inches higher on the bed now, so using deep pocket sheets may be helpful. Our sheets work perfectly. The mattress straps function well.The mattress is comfortable to sleep on. It is NOT gushy like foam toppers. You do not get stuck in the bed when trying to move about or get in and out. I would recommend this topper. We have had it one week now. Will update if needed. A VERY GOOD VALUE to improve sleep....if you like a firmer mattress. I even think it would be great to sleep on this alone on the floor, if you can get up and down. ( It would definitely be a challenge to return this product.). ... show more

My fiancée and I needed a firm mattress topper because the new mattress we bought a few months ago was too soft and was killing our backs. This mattress topper is the BEST. I read the reviews and watch the video reviews and they were right. This thing is firm and sturdy and well worth the money. Only had it for a few days and me and my fiancée don’t want to get out of the bed now. lol. It’s so comfortable and our backs are not hurting anymore. We sleep like babies every time. I read a lot of the reviews and it made my head spin. I could see that this was going to be a 'Goldilocks' situation. I decided to go ahead with the purchase of the Cal King because my back had been bothering me so much...and I'm happy I did. For me and my husband, luckily, this topper is 'just right'. I noticed a difference in my back pain after the first night. The topper is comfortable and the smell that others describe, dissipated within 48 hours.
