  • Very nice , very good value
I just recieved this clock and for the money it is very nice . It looks exactly like the picture right down to the color of the wood cabinet . I would like to adress some of the reviews I seen here . I saw one reviewer say that the sound is muffled . I just do not see that . I has to turn down the volume to 50% so it is not distractingly loud . Another reviewer said that the sound is"tiney" and I agree the music does sound tiney and cheep , but the chimes sound ok so I just selected setting 2 for the clock to chime only . This setting allows the clock to chime 24 hr schedule ( 3 gongs at 3 , 4 at 4 , and so on ) Their are 4 settings for the clock 1 "to alice" 12 hr schedule 2 "strike only:" 24 hr schedule 3 " Westminster music and strike " 12 hr schedule 4 "Westminster only " 12 hr schedule Also You will need to sync the chimes with the clock their is a little button on the chimes module , I did it this way , the clock had just passed 3pm so I kept pressing the button till the correct number of chimes were heard ( 3 chimes in my case for 3 oclock ) A couple of other concerns I saw , the speaker is mounted facing the rear , if that bothers you one could add some electrical wire and lenthen the wires and mount the speaker say behind the top of the clock , their is space their where one would not see the speaker , just a thought , but for me I am happy as is . Construction is very nice , the clock looks much more expensive then it realy is overall I am Very happy with the Clock ... show more

  • Looks great, not cheap
It looks nice and not cheap. I don’t know if it is real wood, but It feels like real wood and looks like real wood. It isn’t flimsy at all. Four chime modes: * Fur Elise by Beeethoven plus a chime for each number of the hour * Just a chime for each number of the hour * Westminster music plus a chime per hour number * Westminster - no chime for the hour The instructions are simple but you need to go slow and pay attention. The hardest thing is figuring out how to make the chime sync with the hour. The clock has no idea what time it is, so the number of chimes per hour won’t match what you set it to out of the box. You need to pick an hour (day 2 o’clock), set the clock to that hour (never ever turn the hands counter clockwise- it will damage the action. Always go clockwise). You should hear the chime. Say it chimes 4 times. Hit the red “SET” button on back. It will chime 5 times. Keep doing this until it chimes the number you’ve set it to (2 for 2 o’clock in this case). It will stay that way. *** EDIT: on setting. So it doesn’t chime at 10-6 AM. So when setting the chime like I described above, it doesn’t take that into account. There will be 9 “silent” chimes when pushing the “SET” button corresponding to the 10PM-6AM times. The easy way is to wait till 10AM and if it chimes all is correct. If it DOES NOT chime at 10AM the clock thinks it is 10PM. Fix is to press the red “SET” button until it chimes 10 times. Then it is set. Also make sure the clock is flat against the wall. Level it too. That’s important to have the pendulum work and stay running. The pendulum doesn’t have to run for it to keep time of course. Also mine took 4 AA batteries. 2 For the chime and 2 for the action and to magnetically give the pendulum a small shove to ensure it doesn’t stop. It has a volume but even all the way up it isn’t very loud because the speaker is flush with the wall. Mounting is best with a sheetrock insert and screw. It has a quarter sized hole directly being the12 on the clock face with a notch the size of a #8 screw. Hit it almost right away (I hate when the hole is too small and it takes forever to “find it” while scuffing up the wall fishing around for the screw head) If I could change some things they would be: * more volume or a down firing speaker because I like to hear it louder * ability to turn on tick-tock sound for the pendulum. The clock doesn’t have tick-tock. * quarter hour chime * ability to have chime all hours (it doesn’t chime after 9PM and before 7AM) * door to open it and open the clock face to set it and change batteries without removing it from the wall. ... show more

  • Pretty clock, but.....
*Do Not Buy From This Company* This is a very nice looking clock. It has good options for chimes and volume. I'm not so sure about their customer service though. I ran into a small issue after replacing the batteries in which the clock seemed to lose track of when it shouldn't chime. (Normally it only chimes from 6am to 10pm) But now it chimes all 24 hours. I emailed Bedford about it, and they graciously offered to send a replacement. Pretty good, eh? They were out of my model, but gave me a list of potential replacement models to choose from, and I chose the one that most resembled the one I had. That was the last I heard from them. That was November 23rd and it's now December 20th. I think I'm stuck with a clock with no chime since I had to turn them off so they wouldn't wake me up every hour. *Edit 12/30/21*. I have emailed them several times from the original email thread asking for an update, but it seems I have been put on "ignore". They made money off of me with one poor sale, but they won't get another. **Update 2-10-22** I tried a couple more times to reach this company via email, but they just have no desire to resolve this issue. Now I'm stuck with what is essentially a useless clock. **Update 2-24-22** I've relegated this clock to a back room, and purchased a far better unit from a company that has more interest in making sure you're happy with their product than they are in just taking your money. Bulova has been making clocks since 1875. Their model #C3542 is an excellent improvement over my current non-functional clock. *Final Update* After about a year of hanging in the back of the house in an unused bedroom, I noticed that the pendulum had also stopped moving on this thing. No big deal, right? Just replace the batteries. Alas, new batteries did not resolve this problem. These clocks appear to be very poorly made all around. A $9.99 Walmart clock would last years further than this. ... show more
