It has been getting colder where I live + my cramps were getting worse with the weather. The blanket having 20 different settings for heat are really helpful if you aren't too much a cold person and get too warm easily. I do think the blanket could have been thicker so you wouldn't feel the wires as much personally but I know some wouldn't mind it too much. Love this blanket. It is soft to touch, heats up great, and really does get warm at the feet. I didn't think I would care about the extra features but I was wrong. The preheat feature and the variable timer are great. I really like that the blanket is slightly oversized so the heated portion hangs over the side of the mattress enough to keep me covered when I roll over. This was the best blanket ever - for about 3 months (I purchased it at the end of September and it died December 31). I am always cold, so I use an electric blanket every night, year round. My previous blanket was a sunbeam, and I had it for at least 5 years. I loved it, but it wasn’t very soft and the wires could be felt. I wasn’t particularly sorry when it died because it meant I could find a new one that I hoped would be softer. Also, I was sometimes cold, even with my blanket on full hot and a light comforter on top to reflect the heat back. I was super excited, then, when I found this blanket. Its 20 levels of heat meant that sometimes I would get too hot and didn’t actually need it on full heat! And if the bed got messed up and the sheet moved so the blanket was directly on me, that was just fine, because it’s SUPER soft and I can’t feel the wires! Also, the preheat/boost option was amazing because I no longer had to wait 15 minutes for the blanket to heat up - it would start to get warm almost immediately!! I thought I had found the best possible solution - until it quit working after 3 months!! The first day, I woke up and realized my blanket was not on. I looked over and saw an error code on my controller (it said E2). I unplugged the controller from the wall and the blanket, let it sit for a while, plugged it back in, and it was fine. The next morning, same code on the controller, so I unplugged it again and actually left it unplugged all day. This time, however, the controller did not reset. I have 2 controllers, so I thought I’d try it on the other side - no luck! I also put the other controller onto the blanket (essentially switching the controllers and the sides of the blanket they were on - no luck)! I finally ended up putting the good controller and the good side of the blanket on my side (my husband doesn’t need heat), so I could have heat, but I also looked into getting it replaced. Amazon can’t help in this case because there’s an existing warranty on the blanket, so I had to submit a claim through JLAHome. Their work hours were not the greatest - open super early (7:00am) but not very late (closed at 3:30pm). It took me a week to finally get through at a good time. I told the lady on the other end the issue, and then she asked if I had done all of the troubleshooting. She said that there was a booklet included with my blanket - I didn’t see one, but I have the packaging it came in. So then she asked me what the problem was - even though I had just told her - and she asked me where I had purchased it (again, something I told her). After verifying more details that I had given her (the fact that I had purchased a king sized blanket and have 2 controllers), and that only one side of the blanket is currently working with one controller, she submitted a claim. However, there are no king sized blankets in stock, and they won’t have them for 3 weeks! That’s not even the worst part! The worst part is that they can’t just put the order in and have the blanket shipped to me when it is in stock. Instead, I have to wait for 3 weeks, call in, give them the claim #, and hopefully they will have it in stock then to send to me. And then hopefully that blanket lasts longer than this one has!! ... show more

The blanket is very comfortable and is a good size. For our king size bed, we get good coverage. The reason for my four stars is the controls are really hard to figure out. The lights on them are too bright for my liking. And rather than a dial control, it’s little buttons and they make a click when you adjust it. So it’s kind of loud if your partner is a light sleeper.     • Great Blanket But Not Smart Home Compatible!

The blanket is very nice but the ad says it is "Compatible with Smart Home Outlets". Unfortunately, this blanket is definitely not compatible with smart home outlets/controllers. Whether you use a WeMo, a Lutron or some other automatic smart switch, this blanket won't properly respond with this type of automatic devices. It simply is not designed to work with WiFi controllers because of a conflict with the electronic switches in smart home control type devices. It will work with an old fashioned clock type of timer that is often used with automatic watering or some such. So, sorry about that! ... show more

Have only used a few weeks - I like the pre-heat feature on it. The only issue I have so far is it seems to get hotter as the night goes on. But, that could be because I'm cold when I go to bed and get used to it as night goes on. I'm trying a lower setting this week, will see how that works.
