  • Impressed!! Would buy again.
Style: Dining Chair
My wife and I were looking for a set of chairs that would match our custom table, I gotta say I was Impressed with the style, the build and quality and shipping, and price. Being in Calif, "Warehouse was in the Bay Area" they were shipped in two days with Amazon Prime, I took a chance and purchased 3 sets (6 Chairs) Once your studied the instructions "1 sheet instruction page" and put one together, the rest went quickly and I had to put together 6 chairs. I looked over for any flaws, cracks, nicks in the wood, each chair seem to be built well and checked before shipping, and boxed up real nice. Two Chairs per box, slight smell from the manufacturing process either from the seat cushion material or the stain on the wood. But on the 2nd day, the smell has seem to dissipate. If your that sensitive, I would probably just place them in a garage or patio for a day to air out, but not necessary. Manufacture date was stamped December 2019 I noticed on the cushion, so they seem to be built somewhat recent. Comfort wise, they seem to be comfortable, comparing them to plastic modern chairs from CostPlus we replaced them with, I shall see as we start to use them more and my three young boys sit and go through them on day to day use, I'll report back in a few months to see how they really hold up. But for the mean time. As one reviewer indicated, just use the Allen tool provided to just loosely hand tight as you place the chair together and use a power drill with the screw driver and Allen head attachment to tighten. Lay out the screws that come with the chair, and match them with the instructions so you know what you have and or missing and build away. It's simple enough for a teenager to put together. As another reviewer indicated, the seat cushion is not pre-drilled, but the screws provided drive in with ease with little push down on the driver. You could even screw it in by hand if needed. So if your hesitant on buying this set, I say go for it, these are really nice modern Mid-Centry looking chairs for the price, best price for the Baxton seem to be on Amazon. I did purchase the 5 year warranty from Amazon just for peace of mind. ... show more

  • Horrible Pricing Practices Hobble a Decent Product.
Style: Dining Set
You know, I honestly planned to leave a favorable review for this product. On the whole, it's a nice set. It's small and built from less expensive and undoubtedly less hard-wearing materials, but all the pieces assemble easily, the finished dinette looks nice and I don't have need for a heavy duty dining room as I live alone and often take my meals on the sofa while watching TV anyway. Unfortunately, I have to leave this lousy review because I have never been so disgusted with pricing for an item in all my life. Initially, I ran across this dinette doing a search on Mayfair. But because I've had such success in the past with getting better value for money when purchasing from Amazon, I naturally returned here to see if it was offered at a lower price. Nope, the whole set was priced at $370 -- same as on Mayfair -- but here it came with Prime shipping. Score, I thought! And I decided to place my order just a couple of days later such that the delivery would arrive on a Friday and I could put everything together over the weekend. To my surprise when I logged on later in the week to place the order, the price tag had skyrocketed to nearly $500! So I just dropped the set back into my Wish List and began a new search for something a little closer to the figure I'd planned to pay not quite 4 days before. Having struck out in finding a set as nice looking as this one below $500 during the week that followed, I came back to it on Amazon convinced that I would just bite the bullet and shell out the extra bucks. Lo and behold, that day I found that the price had plummeted again to just under $400. I became so perplexed by this that I actually set a daily alarm to remind me to log in and track the item's pricing over the course of the next several days. One day I checked in to find the price tag right at $370 again. Another 2-3 days after that, it was reduced still further to $330. Having seen the set sitting at $330 for a few days in a row, I finally wagered that I needed to place my order before the digits rose again. I did, but I remained leery and continued my practice of looking the listing up just about every 24 hours to see if it moved. Wouldn't you know it: I got a text alert saying my shipment had been delivered just as I opened up the Amazon iPhone app and learned that the price had fallen yet again -- this time to $300. So I called Amazon customer service and a young lady happily credited the difference back to me. I should have seen it as telling that the customer service rep I spoke with to get my credit explicitly cautioned me that a pricing adjustment could only be issued once per order, but I didn't. I was too busy being happy that I didn't have to feel screwed over by my purchase. For the record, I stayed happy for exactly one week. As you've probably already guessed, I logged onto Amazon just minutes ago. And as the home page went through its usual paces of recommending stuff to me based on previous purchases, similarities to items in my Wish List, etc., I caught a glimpse of this set yet again... reduced to $270. That's when I got that sad trombone feeling one gets when a happy customer experience turns to complete sh*t. So I say with as much bitter sarcasm as anyone ever has: "Thanks, Amazon." And to the reader, I say with equal sincerity: buy the damn thing if you want. But you're a fool to buy it here -- not because of the price but because of the principle. Given that Amazon seems to lack any, I'll probably let my Prime membership lapse when renewal time rolls around again in another month or so. ... show more

  • Wee But Cute!
Style: Dining Set
This table and chairs is so cute! It’s a little smaller than I realized, which is okay for us because our dining room is a smaller space. I love the mid-century style. It’s sleek and modern and retro and warm all at once. Especially for the relatively low price, so far I feel like we got our money’s worth. Notes on assembly, as I read some people encountered some problems: you need to make sure you’re crossing the pieces over on themselves the right way when assembling the chairs. If you do it backwards, the bases will be too wide, and nothing will line up. Also, make sure you’re putting the backs on right side up. The flat side of the back should be at the top, with the larger, curved section at the bottom. If you do it upside down, the holes won’t line up. Also, you have to drill your own holes when attaching the seats. Just make sure you’ve lined it up before you drill. The set feels a little lighter-duty. I wouldn’t recommend to a family with young kids or to those who are a little rougher on their furniture. ... show more

  • Glad I bought
Style: Dining Chair
I was a little hesitant to purchase these chairs based on the reviews others had left, but I'm glad I did- in fact I bought 4 of them. The chairs were in perfect condition out of the box. Once assembled, they are remarkably sturdy and comfy despite other reviewers saying otherwise. They are also relatively easy to assemble- took about 7-10min a chair. The most important thing to consider is that in order to appropriately assemble these chairs IT IS NECESSARY TO USE "REAL" TOOLS. Namely an electric drill/impact driver is required (see photo)- otherwise the chairs will not be sturdy or easy to assemble. It is also imperative to READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY otherwise you can have issues others have discussed. I almost made the a mistake by going too fast and not paying attention. ... show more
