This review is for a set of two flexible extension bars for modular socket sets, sold as Amazon B0D43KVVHD by seller Bates Choice Store. At the time of this review, the listing dubiously lists them as drill bit extensions, which are are not. They do function as flexible extension bars for socket sets and could be used with a power driver. One bar is sized for 3/8" drive and the other for 1/4" drive, the common sizes for socket sets in the USA. Outside of "drill bit", the listing is accurate in terms of the pictures and textual description. The flexibility shown in the product pictures is basically as far as they can bend. Figure a maximum bend of between 30 and 45 degrees. I was unable to force them much beyond 40-ish or so, and even that took a LOT of force. They'll be good for a fastener that is just slightly out of line, preventing the use of a rigid bar. The bar appears to be essentially a black spring that is secured into the fittings at each end. The spring is sturdy and transmits torque well. The machining on the 3/8" socket was good on both ends. The machining on the 1/4" female was good, but the 1/4" male casting seemed undersized and allowed a lot of wobble in the socket. Both male ends had a sprung ball bearing to retain the sockets. I don't know if the wobble is similar on all copies, or if it was just mine and quality control needs improvement, but I've deduced a star for the wobble as I don't feel safe putting a lot of torque through the 1/4" bar. ... show more

Nice addition to my tool kit. Was in need of some extensions for my socket set and the ability of these to flex a bit will really help with some of the strange areas needing to get a socket into. Looks well made and does flex enough for most purposes.

Thing is so tough that you can only do a 45 degree bend.

    • Bit different than I was expecting
So these will certainly do the job. I was expecting the driver to move the end without turning the whole apparatus. So using it around more delicate surfaces you need to be a bit more cautious. They do work well. Just different that I was expecting.
