For years I wanted a Balsam Hill Christmas Tree, but could not rationalize spending the high price tag. When I saw this one on Amazon for $249 I decided to take the leap since it was less than retail value for the same size & tree type. I was excited about the find! It arrived on time, however, I was disappointed once the set up was complete. My Summary: PROS- Arrived in good time, nice packaging with red bows and fancy instructions. The set up with simple enough (came in 3 parts). The stand, fluffing gloves, and storage bag were enclosed. Once set up was complete, we felt the stand was sturdy enough to hold the tree. CONS- I personally do not feel like this tree is very realistic. I realize the Blue Spruce tree is categorized as "Traditional" versus "Realistic", but still, a bit more life-like would be expected from a company like Balsam Hill. My biggest issue is the lack of fullness, despite my hours of fluffing, separating branches, and filling in the gaps. The bottom portion is fuller than the top. The base seems overcrowded in some spots. However, the top and middle portion has much fewer branches making is sparse looking. I even read tips and watched videos on the best way to "fluff" your tree. I am undecided if I want to keep this. Perhaps its because I had such high hopes (since I've been anticipating this purchase for years) that I am only granting this a 3 star tree. I wish I could give it more, but again, I assumed Balsam Hill would be a higher quality... I've seen other brands look this good if not better. Sorry to say :-( ... show more

I just finished assembling and “fluffing” this tree and it exceeds my expectations!!! I purchased the unlit version of this tree. I almost didn’t buy this tree because of some of the reviews complaining about gaps and not being full but I am very happy that I pulled the trigger anyway. I am very picky about a tree being full and even! My wife says I have Christmas tree OCD. The manufacturer claims 1.5-2 hrs of fluffing I believe....and for the first assembly, I feel this might be a bit low. This tree is extremely full if you spend the time to get it that way. I do not have a single gap in my tree and it is even from top to bottom. Now as I said earlier, I am very picky so it took me 3 hours and it looks beautiful! Things shift during shipping so some of the branches may not be exactly in the original configuration....but very easy to adjust....here is how I assembled this tree and it worked great for me: Insert the lower section into the stand and lower the branches....leave the bottom row down and use the red ribbon tie that came with the tree and tie up the other rows....now fluff the bottom row and when satisfied, lower the next row and so on until the tree is assembled....you won’t need long sleeves to worry about getting scratched. While you are fluffing each row, don’t be afraid to bend the branches slightly, left,right or up and down to get them where they need to be. I would grasp the branch firmly near the “trunk” and adjust it as necessary. Another note....some of the branches have 2 smaller branches on them and you have to bend those out “fan them” to achieve a full tree and again, bend and place them to achieve fullness. In the end, if you want your tree to look full and beautiful, it takes some time. This is my first Balsam Hill and the first time I have spent $329 on a tree but it is worth every penny! If it lasts me 8-10 yrs....I feel it will have paid for itself. I hope that my review helps current owners as well as potential owners.... ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I’m not a Christmas tree fan or someone that enjoys decorating a tree every year. It’s such a chore with limited enjoyment. So, for our first tree, I did weeks of research as the prices for trees are all over the place. We looked at a lot of trees in stores and at friends and took the chance at ordering via Amazon. It was packed well, with clear directions, and easy set up. There was one thing I didn’t realize and one thing that pleasantly surprised us... We had no idea that you’d spend about 20 min “fluffing” or positioning each stem off of each branch to make it look more full. I’d say this one is “full” and looks great but if you look closely, you’ll see the center stem. BUT, if there was any more branches it would take way too long to set this tree up. It’s almost like an easy puzzle to position the stems to fill open spots and looks great in the end. We didn’t think much about the lights, just knew we wanted them. But wow are the lights the highlight of this tree, simply awesome. Excellent dispersion, with various depths (it’s not just on the outside branches but inside as well), and super easy set up. The various patterns they have, and that you can download with a tap, are festive, creative, editable, and kids love it. You can even make your own patterns. Overall, the quality of the tree, packaging, and lights paired with the ease of assembly and storage will make setting up the tree a fun tradition. Imagine that. ... show more
