Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. I easily installed the MX4 on my 2017 F150 6.5 foot bed Super Crew with some help by my wife for the initial lifting and positioning. We have used it in heavy rains with less than a cup of water entering (near one of the tailgate's corners). I must admit, the flat surface of the MX4 looks a bit bland — but it has not dented in recent moderate hailstorms. Quality is excellent, and it latches securely. The MX4 opens easily, folds easily, and closes tightly. If you can open the tailgate and close the tailgate, you have more than enough strength to fold and unfold the panels, which were heavier than I, a 70 year old, expected. Unlike other reviewers, there were no scratches or missing parts and the unit arrived in a large, very heavy duty, cardboard box with expanded foam protection cushioning the contents. If there was any problem, it came in the form of a "missing" screw/threaded post for one of the buckle ends ... but which I found by looking under the buckle end's rubber base; I suspect this is what happened to those reviewers who were missing one or two as they mounted the first buckle end before checking. In my opinion, the MX4 is an excellent, easily installed, easy opening/closing, heavy duty, well made folding tonneau that keeps things far more dry than any other tonneau we have used over the years. ... show more

I didn't rate the Adhesion or Water resistance because I just installed it. The installation was easy I looked at the video at the Bakflip web site. It's been a few days and when I checked the bed was dry (and it's been raining) here in Seattle it rains quite a bit I did notice a couple of small spots where water could leak in, if it ends up leaking too much for me I'll take it back off and put a fine bead of silicone around the edges that would seal it tight ! I do expect a little water now and then, it's listed as rain resistant not rain tight but for my use it's fine. I put a plastic tub with a cover back there and keep anything I want to keep completely dry in there ( emergency jacket, gloves, TP, whatever) The cover looks good and fits well, I'm happy with it. Installed for my father in law. Mounted up easy. He is having trouble with the clamps coming loose. Gonna use lock tight on the bolts Looks really nice, but is not 100% water tight. The only wet spot is by the tailgate. So pretty good really. Rest of the bed is dry. This is an item that you get what you pay for. High quality, and worth the money. ... show more

This bed cover looked and worked great at first and is easy to install, but after about a year of regular use the rubber strips on each side started coming loose and pieces started rattling out, making it impossible to close flat. It now looks terrible and it’s easier for thieves to access my bed, so it needs to be replaced. Not something that I’d expect from a $1k item. ... show more

BAK BAKFlip MX4 Hard tunnel cover was delivered in pristine condition. I was concerned about other reviews stating the packaging was subpar however according to the label our backflip MX4 was built in January 2021 and the packaging was excellent. There was a molded foam layer on the top and bottom of the box. (Looked like a bag that was sprayed with great stuff” that molded to the parts. ) It did the trick. Awesome cover! Easy to install, fits, looks really good, and now the bed is secure. Its the perfect solution. Great price! I’ve had hard tonneau covers, and campers, and once their installed you really lose the use of the bed for dirtbikes, gear, and anything taller than the cab, I should of got this thing years ago. Easy enough to install though did take some effort. Just follow instructions or look up a YouTube video and you will be fine. Once on it has been working great. I do get some water from the tailgate area but is minimal and doesn't pass one inch inside the bed. There isn't a seal here so i did expext this. Weater proof tape may fix it. Everywhere else remains dry. Easy to flip open as well. Overall cover exceeded my expectations. ... show more
