  • Excellent stability belt for sacroiliac instability and recurrent pain
Size: Large (Pack of 1)
I have had an exacerbation of sacroiliac joint pain. On a whim, I decided to look for a solution for the pain. Seeing different treatment options from a few different vendors, I wanted to try a few brands. Rather than trying one and then waiting for an order to come in, I ordered a MARS Wellness SI Joint Lumbar Lower Back belt, a GNR Health Systems BackWonder SI Joint Belt, an OPTP SI-LOC Support Belt, and a Serola Sacroiliac Help Belt. I will rank them as follows: OPTP SI-LOC Support belt This is a non-elastic belt, unlike the others. It has a strap on each side that is fed through a plastic D loop/Ring. Although it’s supportive, it provides no compression or added tension. It does maintain its shape, and stays in place due to LATEX pads on the inside of the belt. For support, it is good. For acute pain, it is not helpful. The price is in the middle of the pack. It has a No Return policy, which is a big caveat. Grade: C, 2 Stars MARS Wellness SI Belt, This is an elastic belt. It has a main Velcro closure and two accessory Velcro closure devices for additional tension. It is supportive and provides compression. It stays in place, though it tends to fold onto itself at times. For tension, it is moderate to high. For support it is good. For acute pain, it helps a lot. However, one must make adjustments to straighten it out over the course of the day or night. If you’re not as active, it should suffice. The price is in the lower end of the pack. Grade: B Minus, 3 Stars Serola SI hip Belt This is an elastic belt. It has a main Velcro closure strap but it provides no tension, and there are two accessory straps for adjusting tension. The two tension straps are the workhorse of this system and there are small tabs that allow for a secure grip to make the adjustment. Even at the highest tension, I’d say the tension is firm to moderate. The inner lining is elastic and gives stability without deformity. Given that it is the “Gold Standard”, it is durable feeling and well made. It’s price is nearly twice that Of the competition. Grade: B +, 4 Stars GNR Health Systems BackWonder This is also an elastic belt. It uses a Velcro strap that is fed through a plastic D loop/ring providing the greatest amount of the load of tension. There are two Velcro secured straps for adjusting for more tension. It is supportive and provides compression. It stays in place and maintains its shape. For tension it is moderate to high. This provides the highest degree of tension and helps with acute pain. For the price, it is the least expensive option. It will work in the active and mobile setting without a loss of position or change in shape. For the price, it is the top contender, and it is priced and well over half of the price of the Serola. • Fantastic.
Size: Large (Pack of 1)
This belt has really helped my SI-joint pain! I was desperate to try anything after exercises, chiropractic, and massage weren't working. Even an SI-joint injection after a doctor's visit at the hospital failed to provide lasting relief. No none seemed to know why it was so painful... I'm not sure they even believed me. I had just about given up (even thought about a cane at age 40) until I found a mention of an SI-joint belt somewhere online. The belt helped some right away and improved over the next few days, so much so that I said "I'm tired of wearing that uncomfortable belt" and went a day without. Two days later I was in pain and grudgingly put the belt on again. Two weeks later, I now GRATEFULLY wear the belt most of the day, forget it is on (it now just feels like my pants are comfortably snug at the waist), and feel much more stable. It is easy to adjust, very comfortable to wear over a pair of boxers, and I even sometimes wear it against my skin with no issues...very, very comfortable even in the summer. I have much less pain (sometimes none), and have resumed even most of my strenuous activities like yard work and exercise Without the belt (I do go a few hours a day in the evening or after a shower without) I feel like the painful side of my hips moves a lot more than the other and that leg feels shorter. With the belt, the problem goes away almost entirely though I sometimes notice a little difference. I do find it is important to strengthen, stretch, and massage my legs and hips (even with the belt). Common sense really when you have pain,.. plenty of good stuff on YouTube for Si-joint and sciatica. My recommendation on size, is if you are on the edge of the sizes, go one down...tighter is more stable. I am a 6'2, 190 lb. male with a 36-in waist/40-in hips who ordered a large but for the first time in my life needed something in a medium. The large was not snug, the medium is perfect. I have no experience with any other belt, so I can't compare, but this belt is perfect and the price is right. The GNR logo was a concern when I was comparing, but is not something I think about since I wear it under my pants. I will be buying this one again if or when I need another one. ... show more

  • Works good, but be sure to go a size down.
Size: Medium (Pack of 1)
This band really works well as long as you get the correct size. I purchased this belt because I have used a similar one during physical therapy and it really helped the pain. Before ordering I took my measurements and compared to the sizing chart and I purchased a medium. The medium was about 2-3 inches too big, and every inch counts for the pain relief. So if you purchase this belt, if you’re on the cusp of a size, go down a size, as this belt seems to run big, at least it did for me. When I took it to my PT facility they really liked the belt and said it was a great deal because most of these belts cost upwards of $50. Therefore, I recommend this belt because of the price; the quality of the belt was similar to the $50 one I used during PT, except this one has a silver metal clasp that you feed the belt through. Even though it was a bit too big, I still wore it as it helped and helped align my body better than if I wasn’t wearing one. If you suffer from SI pain, give this band/belt a try. ... show more
