I finally found something that helps with my lower back pain due to lower belly-hang. For me it was immediate relief! After buying and trying belts, girdles, panty/girdles, surgery belts and what have you, for the first time in years I have relief from my lower back pain. I'm amazed and so happy! As I've gotten older, (69), and due some to lack of activity after having to leave my job due to disability, I started getting some lower belly-hang that was pulling on my lower back. I have hurt for so many years that it has caused me to be even more inactive, and has sent me to doctor after doctor for some suggestions and relief. I can't believe no one suggested a medical belt or something like this. This belt, that I found while searching Amazon once again for something to try, had some good reviews for a few other people suffering from what I thought was the same as myself and I thought what the heck, I'll spend the money and at least try it. I was getting desperate for some relief and ordered it. When it came I was skeptical, but after putting it on and adjusting it a little, oh my gosh! I was able to stand up straighter....no back pain! It hits just the right spot holding up my belly, and I can't say enough about the ability to stand without pain in my back! When your back hurts, it robs you of your normal quality of life. I couldn't exercise as I wanted to try to strengthen my tummy muscles, and in fact I didn't feel like doing anything physical. I haven't even had a good night's sleep in years, so I'm eternally tired. Now that I have this support belt, I'm looking forward to taking walks to start moving around again and maybe start exercising some on some stationary bikes at my clubhouse. And(!), I look forward to cleaning my house like I used to, though I have to ease into that. I've had to hire help for that, and that gets expensive! Just the thought that I can stand longer at my kitchen sink to do dishes, or bake, do laundry, make my bed....it's the best I have felt physically and mentally in a long, long time. This will not help everyone, I understand that. But it is helping me. Immensely. You can't believe what a life changer this is going to be. Ok, now to facts of the order and product. I ordered the XL-XXL belt in black, mainly to make sure I had some "playroom" to adjust if needed. I was afraid of ordering too small and having to return it for a larger size, but this works for me. I might have gotten away with the next size smaller, but for my hips, (46"), I went for the size recommended. When I took it out of the package there is an odor, but I think it's a rubber smell. Stinky, but I think that will go away after wearing it and airing it out some. I wrapped the belt from behind to my front, made sure my belly was supported correctly, and used the main velcro to secure it. (Easy!) Then took the attached side velcro straps to tighten it a little. I'll have to find my perfect tension but I was happy right away. It fit well, and seems very well sewn together. It's not flimsy. It's sturdy. The belt also shipped pretty fast, I think I had it about 4-5 days after ordering. I know this belt will not be for everyone, but for me it is such a winner! Sorry for the long review, but for the first time in years I feel optimistic about my pain free future and dealing with and strengthening my lower back muscles. I hope if you have back pain due to lower belly problems that this helps you decide whether to try it or not. If it doesn't help you, you can always return it. I'm keeping mine! ... show more

I was surprised by how comfortable it is to wear. Not only can you adjust it with the main front closure, but the two straps at the sides allow you to adjust if further. It helps while working and walking, but I don't enjoy wearing it while sitting. That is not the fault of the belt. It appears to have lessened my SI joint pain. ... show more

It did help my back pain, however it smelled so strong that I had to wash everything it touched several times to get the sickening smell out of it. I threw it in the trash just to get it out of my house. I didn't even want to put it in my car to return it. Like I said, it works. It does make you more comfortable.     • Stretches your legs for better back posture

Lower back pain can be the last link in a chain that starts with fallen arches, calf cramps, sore knees and hamstring charley horses. For all those things I’ve been told to stretch my quads and tighten my abs to keep my pelvic tilt correct. And I have, but after the workout I go right back to my poor posture. Sound familiar? This thing puts my pelvis is just about the exact position I’m supposed to hold it in—without any thought. What a difference. One of the reasons for the poor tilt was tight quads, and I can feel them stretching when I wear this. I’ve been a little worried about wearing it too much, for fear of causing too much too soon, but it seems OK. Of course, it’s easy to take a break when you find you want to. Back to fallen arches. . .you’ll find all sorts of videos online that show how body mechanics change when your feet collapse inward. An over-the-counter orthotic does a lot to change the tilt of your Achilles tendon, and that relieves strain on the calves, knees, legs and lower back. Just flexing your pelvis to get the right tilt tends to pull your arches up—and it works in reverse, too. Since I learned that I’ve been trying to remember to hold my tilt correctly but now I don’t have to think about it. I suspect this will also help with neck pain which is associated with jaw tension. . .funny how poor posture affects everthing! Of course we all knew that but it’s hard to change. This band will be a big help in getting those tight muscles stretched and keep them from fighting the correct position I should stand in. I think it will be a great aid to recovery and expect to be able to do without it at some point. But for now, it provides excellent pain relief to the lower back and all those little muscles stretches are telling me it’s improving my posture without effort. Update: after two months the improvement is significant. Back pain is diminished and I find myself standing straight naturally, with far less pelvic tilt.
