  • Awesome Shifter. Well worth it if you have a lower dash aux switch panel.
The difference in shifting is night and day. I could not believe how much so! I thought there might have been some bias on the part of other reviewers regarding the improved shifting, because who wants to pay $200+ for a shifter handle and not get some improved feel when shifting? I am pleased to say I agree 100% that shifting is improved beyond what I thought it could be. Amazing. Second, I run a Daystar light switch panel with 4 switches for aux. lights, and with the OEM shifter handle when in 3rd of 5th gear, the boot would bump up against 3 of the switches and turn them off. This was extremely annoying. With the B&M shifter the boot and handle no longer bump up against any of my switches. Third, if I had a large cup in the cup holder and had to hit 6th gear or reverse, my hand would bump up against the cup. No more bumping large cups. Installation of the shifter also gave me an opportunity to replace the inner and outer shifter boots which were deteriorating due to being approximately 13 years old. This is a very easy install and well worth the investment. The B&M shifter knob is a tad small so I ordered a Speed Dawg shifter knob. Awesome. ... show more

  • **update**** great product
Contacts console in second. So much so that you need to bend this or the console **update** 6/6/23 it was completely my fault for not clocking the stick properly. I initially didn’t back out the locking bolts far enough to adjust it.

  • Stays in 1st gear and eliminated the slop
Replace the stock JKU stick with 140k miles. Totally eliminated the popping out of 1st gear issue and honestly feels like a new Jeep. This is what the factory should have spec’d them with. Crisp, tight shifts with no slop.

  • Don’t hesitate fixed our shifting issue
We purchased this due to the slop in our factory shifter. The factory shifter was so bad we were having trouble finding 5th and 6th gear. Smashing hand on dash and cups in cup holder if not careful. The B&M shifter eliminated it all no slop, bent just right to avoid your hand hitting the dash or cups in cup holders. Simple to put on, once you get the factory knob off. ... show more

  • Much better than stock
The stock shifter on my jk has a rubber bushing to connect it to the transmission. The b&m does not so now you can feel the shifts better, much crisper.

  • BEWARE: Weak Shoulder Bolt
I've had this shift lever along with the B&M Sportshifter (P/N 45195) installed for about 3 months now. While I love the shifter, I was frustrated when the shift lever started to rotate freely on my way home from work one day. I assumed the two set screws came loose and just needed to be tightened back up. Unfortunately, what I found instead, is that the shoulder bolt that is installed from the factory snapped. I'm hoping to get an RMA for it, as it's not going to be an easy task to repair / beef this thing up. Hopefully B&M has already found a solution for this issue, and I just got sent an old revision of an assembly. At the very least, swapping out the stainless steel shoulder bolt to a hardened steel should help. It doesn't necessarily need to be corrosion resistant, but it does need to be stronger. That aside, I love the shift lever and it was definitely a better feel for me than the stock setup. Now if only I didn't throw the stock one away shortly after saying "Welp, I won't be needing this anymore..." *Sigh* ... show more

  • Should have come like this from the factory.
About a month and half in, I'm absolutely loving it. I avoided the whole short shift kit, as I don't think that concept works well in a Jeep. I want longer, vaguer shifts. This gives the right amount of leverage, and the isolator drastically reduces that tractor-life shifter vibration. Instead of seemingly shifting vertically, now the Jeep shifts on a horizontal plane. The leverage makes the shifts easier and more ergonomic. The shift knob included works... but if it was half an inch larger in diameter it would be perfect. It's like having a golf ball as a shift knob, which is too small in my opinion. Especially when you're leaning into the door when going off-road, I prefer a larger knob for more confident gear selection and lever placement. But, I can't take a star off for that-- totally subjective. User note-- I had to cut the original shift arm off at the isolator. It does not, and I repeat-- DOES NOT-- just slide off like the video showed. It is clamped on with the force of god. Even after I cut the metal at the bottom, the grip from the factory isolator was so strong I wiggled it back and forth under full strength for nearly half an hour before it came off. Ironically, the factory shift knob popped right off with barely any effort. So your results may vary. ... show more

  • Greatly improved shifting!
After reading great reviews for this shift lever on the Wrangler Forum, I decided to try one for myself. I thought the reviews were exaggerated and that there wouldn’t be too much improvement over the sloppy factory mystery shifter, but I was wrong! This shifter has completely transformed my driving experience. I no longer have to endure a shifter that flops around. Now the shifts are clean and with a shorter throw. ... show more
