I use this welder exclusively for running my spool gun to weld aluminum. For the price point I don't think you could get a better value. The only two negetives I have that kept it from a 5 star is the feed rate is in metric units instead of standard and, most annoyingly, it does not save your previous settings when you shut it down and fire it back up. More than once I've botched a weld because of it. Still a solid value for the money. Also very light and is easily carried around the shop. It also would be nice if it had a threaded gas inlet fitting instead of a barbed attachment since I swap one Argon tank between this and my TIG welder. The gas fitting is a ⅝-13 on standard hoses in case you need that information to adapt a fitting like I did. 😉 ... show more

I do a lot of welding work on my land, so having a versatile welder like this is really helpful. I have been using it in a few projects, and I didn't have any major problems. Overall, it is a solid welder, I would recommend it.

I have a few small welding jobs to do, and always wanted to get more into welding. I ordered this, and met with my friend, the local High School welding instructor. His feedback was that this is a great little machine (his shop is full of big, beefy Lincoln welders that are not at all portable). It took us both a little time to get used to metric sizes for wire and feed rates (photo 3). In photo 4, you see the interesting wiring arrangement: if you’re powering from 220, you put the 220 plug into the wall (or truck), and it ends in a 110-looking female plug. You plug the male 110-looking power plug from the welder into that. But it’s 220, and the welder display (photo 3) recognizes that it is plugged into 220 and has higher amperage available. We used 0.035” flux core mild steel wire, from a local discount tool warehouse, and set it up as 0.9mm (true conversion is 0.88 mm), and made a few tightening adjustments to the tension. The instructor had me welding in 10 minutes! I had done it before, but it has been about 35 years! Overall very good impression, and the fact that I can power it from the 220 VAC output of my electric truck is going to be excellent! ... show more

Bought this as a gift for my nephew who has been training in welding (and we’re very proud of him!) He was extremely thrilled and grateful! He says it works great, is easy to use and understand and has everything he needs. It is quite heavy but it’s liftable. Great value for the money!
