First off, this thing is not small. I have several laptops in the house and I was almost embarrassed to put this thing down close to it. It's a good sized adapter. If you have a 32 oz tumbler it's almost half as tall and easily as wide. Second, it needs a little bit of room. As I mentioned, it's not small. However, this thing is fast!!! It connected to my NightHawk router at a full 1200 and consistently downloaded and uploaded at 400mbps and up. The computer is about 15 ft from the router. Unfortunately, it has to go past a stainless refrigerator, stainless stove and the router is close to an air conditioning duct. It has to defeat a lot of metal and interference. Again, it had no problem staying connected. It was just rock solid connection. I gamed on it for an entire day playing several FPS games with no issues. I love this adapter. ... show more

The WAVLINK AX1800 USB WiFi 6 Adapter can make a difference. In my informal testing the connection speed went from 46Mbs to 113Mbs. It only connected at 2.4Ghz, not the available 5Ghz, so speed did not reach the maximum available on my system. My setup is as follows: NetGear Orbi Mesh 2.45Ghz capable Asus Viviobook Laptop, about 3 years old When the laptop is in the same room as the router it connects 5Ghz and gets 260Mbs. There is no change in performance between the build in WiFi and the AX1800 in this scenario. Moving my laptop to my office the build in WiFi only connects at 2.4Ghz and gets 46Gbs max (usually a lot less). Using the AX1800 it still connects at 2.4Ghz but speed jumps to 113Mbs plus. Pretty nice adapter. Was an easy setup, plugged it in, downloaded drivers then it installed. My router was 50 feet away and was thru two walls. This WIFI adapter connected at 1200 without a problem. My speeds were fast, no dropouts and the antennas seemed to have high gain on them. What I though was pretty cool about the adapter is that the base is magnetic. So you can magnetize it on any metal surface. I actually had it sideways on my metal filing cabinet. Overall a pretty good adapter for those that need a wifi 6 adapter. Works well and seems to have high gain to help connect at higher speeds. ... show more

Good speeds as advertised but had to install drivers. Wouldn't come up at first but it came up as an extra drive letter where the driver exe file was living. Scanned it for viruses and it was fine so i installed it. Once drivers installed, the adapter was recognized right away and i'm getting the advertised speeds. Very good connectivity as well with full bars from about 75' away through 2 walls. It's much smaller than i expected being roughly the same height and width of a soda can. I have a number of WAVLINK products, all of which perform well and last, which is why this product appealed to me. The AX1800 is a WiFi 6 supporting product, as well as for any router, but the higher connectivity will only work with WiFi 6. The product installs a driver automatically when connected to a Win11 machine by launching it from a virtual CD drive, which I didn't care for as that's an easy way to install malicious software without your control, however it appeared to be safe. It didn't recognize the driver from the first two attempts at install, so having disconnected and reconnected, it worked on the third try. Windows eventually recognized it as a WiFi 6 device and popped up a bubble near the tray clock confirming it could support that, and it did connect a 1.2Gbps to the router on the 5Ghz band. Throughput is good but not incredibly faster than my other USB WiFi adapter that connects at 867Ghz to the router which is in a room below. It works though. I think it's a little pricey for the performance compared to other products, but again, I anticipate it like my other WAVLINK products that it will continue performing well in the longer term. ... show more

The way they included the drivers is kind of weird. Definitely a neat idea, but I'm not sure its trustworthy. Whatever, I guess its no different than downloading them off the manufacturer's website since the manufacturer supplied the drivers included. Oh well. Anyway, the speed is fine. My router is an AC1950, and this adapter goes at it full speed without a problem, which I believe my actual connection speed is usually around 867Mbps, which is perfectly acceptable.
