This is an amazing product. It made my internet connection 10 times faster from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps. I do have 1 Gig from my ISP but my laptop's Ethernet card was only 100 Mbps. Purchased this item so that I can hardwire my Amazon Firestick and it works flawlessly!! I purchased a different brand item which looked identical but it did not work. So don’t waste your time with other Ethernet adapters and purchase this Ugreen adapter

    • Read the product specs about external power...
The hub worked great and all while I was using it without external power. Very convenient for a Surface Pro, allowing me to use wired ethernet and still use some USB 3.0 ports for mice, keyboards, etc. The hub does have a power port for 5V 2A power. Be warned though, DO NOT plug in anything over 5V 2A into that port... My idiot self decided to plug a more powerful one into it and, suddenly the hub ceased to function and had a weird burning plastic smell to it, and no longer functioned. Doh! Well that one was my fault. At least none of the USB devices that were plugged into it at the time suffered any damage. The only reason I'm docking it a star is because for some reason no ethernet cable I used would snap into the port. They would connect and function, but would easily fall out with the slightest bump. It did this for every RJ45-terminated cable I tried, from multiple manufacturers. I'll likely be buying UGREEN's updated version, with USB-C power, to replace it, but this hub did serve me very well before I fried it out of an act of ignorance. ... show more

Love the adapter. I had to get a new laptop and didn't realize that it only had wireless connectivity and no ethernet port. Internet speed was slow because that's the nature of wireless. No setup needed. Plug and play. Went from 10 Meg download to 500 Meg. Use SS USB port. Plus has 3 USB ports on this adapter. Did not get hot at all. Highly recommend 👌 ... show more

    • Excellent Choice, Especially if Your Laptop Doesn't have an Ethernet Port
I purchased this adapter since my new Acer laptop didn't have an Ethernet port. After spending a whopping 10 hours on Wifi doing an initial setup on my laptop, I needed a better option for downloads. Wifi is great for tablets and phones and less intensive surfing, but for downloads a hard wired connection is much better. This adapter just simply worked. Plugged it into my USB port and put my cord into my router and was enjoying super fast download speeds. No setup was required, Windows 10 recognized it and off I went. I highly recommend this adapter. Well made and easy to use. Particularly love the additional 3 ports on the side to plug in additional devices. Great price too! ... show more

    • Works great with Fire TV 4K Max
This is working great on my Fire TV 4K Max. It seems to be the only one that supports Gigabit on the Fire TV. Speed tests show around 333Mbit down. A bit under the max of 480 I have, but could be hardware limitation. Not too different than on WiFi 5, but more reliable. I also have a USB drive for storage, and IR adapter so I don't have to use the tiny, slippery, Alexa remote. Update May 2024: Bought another one for a Walmart Onn 4K Pro Google TV box. The built in Ethernet is only 100Mbit. Did speed test over 360. And the hub makes it easier to expand in the future. ... show more

Does not work out of the box. You must first install the driver that comes with the device on a mini cd (try that on a new MacBook Air with no cd device). Even after you install their driver, the RG 45 will work but the USB 3.0 ports do not work. Amazon should remove MacBook Air from their list of devices that it is compatible with and specifically say that it does NOT work with this laptop. 6/26/2018 uGreen reached out to me and sent a second hub to try. USB 3 ports and the internet is now working. It didn't work right away and I experienced yet another external drive corruption. However, I am now suspicious that the APFS file format on my three powered external drives is suspect. I have since erased them and returned them to the old Mac format (HFS journaled). So far, so good. Time will tell. If this does prove to be the case, Apple needs to realize that their new APFS file format doesn't play well with external drives with the same format. Topping the anguish off, since Disk Warrior 5.1 is the only software for Mac that can rebuild a drive directory, at this time they have yet to update their software and thus cannot rebuild a corrupted APFS drive. So reformat and lose all your data is the only option left if you want to use that nice 5tb Seagate drive you just bought. ... show more

    • Works with Nintendo Switch... maybe?
I bought this to use with my Nintendo Switch via the Skull & Co Switch dock. Well it kinda works. When I first connected it the lights on the device itself and everything else connected to the dock kept going on and off in 5-10 sec intervals. I tried unplugging the power supply from the dock and reconnecting it and it worked fine (spent about a hour playing) but when I went to put the Switch in sleep mode it started all over again. Even when I was about to get it into sleep mode anywhere from an hour to 5 hours it would start up again. I don't believe its the adapter but more the Skull & Co dock not having enough power to actually power the 3 USB 3 ports they have on the dock. I'm looking into getting a 5v 2a adapter to use in conjunction with this adapter to see if that remedies the problem. ... show more
