This is a must have when you upgrade your Harbor Freight style manual tire changer with a duck bill!! I had a hard time without, things would go off-center and it's just a struggle from there, you only have so many hands. I just received this cone 10 minutes ago so I haven't tried it yet, looks like I have to grind down the sloppy weld on the post for it to slide over (see pictures). Measurements seem to be as described, fits great in my Nissan Sentra wheels. Appears well made, looks like it was painted silver, can't say what grade aluminum it is or if it was indeed milled but it seems like it'll do its job. I'll update this review if I encounter any problems during use. If you've already spent the money on a manual tire changer and done the upgrades, I definitely recommend this, what's another $40 something if it makes things easier. Hope this helps. ... show more

The cone is expensive, but that is not the fault of manufacturer. The fault is the high cost of aluminum. The cone is machined properly and fit the center hole of my Jeep Rubicon wheels. Cone held the rim snugly enough for me to mount 315/75r16 mud terrain tires. Rim does not budge, money well spent!! ... show more

This is a good quality item, well machined and smoothly finished, fits snugly, slides easily on the center post as it should. I am in the process of refinishing my aluminum wheels and the welded X thing used to cinch the wheel down for tire changing is not at all appropriate. I quickly realized using this or any such centering cone on my manual tire changer from harbor freight requires some modification. I found that with forester 5 x 100mm wheels, the lug pin minimum distance was initially too far from center, so cone could not be seated properly. With a larger wheel bolt pattern, the cone could be centered but bottomed out on the wheel support plate before filling the hole. Both of these issues were solved by inserting 3/4“ wood spacers under the wheel. It was not a rock-solid answer, but I got the tire off. Long term I believe a set of ¼” wheel spacers can be easily adapted. With slots cut for the lug hole pin, they can be stacked as required to accommodate different sized wheels. ... show more

I'd recommend getting both sizes to deal with more combinations of wheels. Does what it is supposed to and help center the wheel on the shaft.
