  • Works as expected
Over all it works as expected. It's easy to install and set up. It could use a bit of guidance though for setting a starting place for how long and how often the water should be on. The only way to regulate how much water a plant receives is to add more stakes. I have one flower that is very small and it's the one I set the timer to. I have several that are roughly twice the size so I put two stakes in them. My largest plant has 4 stakes. I have a large jade tree that I felt was too large (so it would need a lot more water) that I didn't connect up. My plants are on a shelf behind a large TV about 6 feet above the floor. The shelf is 3/4" thick and the clip on the timer slides right onto the shelf perfectly. I was a bit worried that the pump wouldn't be able to pull water from a tank if it was on the floor but it had no problem. I put it in manual mode and after pushing the run button a few times you could hear the pump change pitch as the water reached it. I've let it run for a few days and will check how damp the soil is and make adjustments. Doing so is very easy. If you can set a digital clock then this will be easy. You simply turn the knob to set the clock, the start time, how long the unit comes on for (it starts in seconds but once you get over 90 seconds it switches to minutes), and the delay before it comes on again. I set it up for 45 seconds of water, 3 times a day starting at 2 am. I think that might be too much water so I may shorten it. The kit comes with plenty of stakes, Tees, crosses, and lots of tubing. There's enough tubing so you could mount the timer in one room and water plants in another. I probably used 8' of the 33'. It's worth noting that the memory will save all the setting but the time. So if the power goes out it'll still work but the starting time will be off. I like that it doesn't use batteries. It would be nice if the power cord was a USB vs the round connector. That way if the power supply needs replacing it'll be much harder to find. ... show more

  • Will use it for fall vacation
Jumped on this because we will be going away this fall for 2 weeks. I have 16 plants of various sizes so at least 3 will be watered heavy 1st & water globes put in. Now for the rest I think they will be happy with this system & my small water trough as the water source. I did a trial run outside to learn how to use it. It's pretty simple overall & I like it alot. The price is up there so I knocked a star off. But otherwise it does what it's suppose to. ... show more

  • So Awesome, Works Great!
I have about 10 potted plants on a long shelf that is about 3 feet high, and also hanging from the ceiling above them. Last winter we suddenly had gnats everywhere. We got gnat traps, put cinnamon on the top of the dirt, and sprayed but the larva was already under there. We had a couple casualties, and that was when I learned that you never water the top soil of plants; you always water from the bottom or the middle. So we bought a bunch of those water ball things, and they were great! But one of the plants is a palm tree and I have to refill that sucker twice a week at least. No more gnats, but they're getting to be too time consuming. And then I found this!!! The automatic watering system. The listing shows all the things it comes with, which is enough to do 15 plants if they're close enough together. (You couldn't water that many with one system if they were in separate rooms or something. They need to be all together.) Everything that was listed was in the box, undamaged, and the kids and I made a project of measuring and cutting the lines to fit. We started with the plant that is furthest away from where the pump would be and worked our way backward. Once we had the tubes, diverters, plugs, and watering stakes all in, we tested it. Now let's just fast forward a minute to say: This works PERFECTLY. The pump flawlessly gets the water all the way to the plants hanging from the ceiling with no problem. I highly recommend this item! Be aware that you need to supply your own 'tank' for water. We're using a 3 gallon bucket on the floor under the lowest plant stand. The tubes have a filter to make sure nothing gets clogged. Now, we had a problem that was OUR OWN FAULT that I'd like to mention in case it happens to anyone else. Initially we could hear it pumping but nothing was pumping. It was humming along but not sucking up any water. We checked every connection and tube. No leaks, no air vacuum. And then we realized; we had it plugged into a six plug that had other items pulling electricity from the same outlet. We plugged it directly into the wall and viola! It works perfectly. No gnats. No work. I'll just refill that bucket as needed. I am SO very happy with this auto watering system! ... show more

  • Great way to keep plants watered, even if you're home.
Units like this are very handy, even just for daily watering. Of course, you do have to keep your plants pretty close together, but at least you don't have to worry about forgetting to water, and I sort of have the tendency to crowd my plants around a window anyway, ha ha. It's the sort of system it takes a few adjustments to tweak it just right, because with this specific waterer, you only have one choice of watering time, so, if you are mixing larger and smaller plants, or ones that drink more with ones that don't, you need to shorten your time, and put extra emitters in the ones that drink more. You DO have to monitor the watering schedule until you are confident you have it set correctly, but once you figure everything out, as long as you refill your water bucket, it should just keep rolling along. I do like that this one has a "lock" feature, as I have grandbabies and they do like to "help" and they LOVE to push buttons! This unit requires a power source nearby, so if you don't have a 120v outlet near, you will have to run an extension cord, but a light duty one will suffice and you don't have to worry about getting a bad battery or them going dead while you're out of town. The fittings don't go in easily, but they stay in well, and I like that they have plugs in case I decide to temporarily remove a plant and don't want to re-do everything. So far, after some false starts and a little time, mine has been running smoothly and has been dependable. ... show more
