    • Better than it Looks but Hard to Install Correctly
When this door arrived my first impression was disappointment. It looked well built, but I thought our chicken would never be able to go through because it looked so narrow. Well, I guess it was just an optical illusion because all the chickens, included the bigger ones had no trouble going in or out. Needless to say that this is simply a cool invention. It has light sensor to open in the morning and comes with a remote that you can use to set the timer to suite your needs. My concern is that it did fail a couple of times, right in the beginning. It just wouldn't open the door all the way up. I found that leveling it both vertical and horizontally would fix the issue. That's the reason why I gave it only three stars. Some buyers may not have the option or patience to line it up correctly and I wouldn't blame them. A more powerful motor wouldn't have cared about how leveled this door was installed. ... show more

This door is simple to set up and install, and works well in above freezing conditions. There are multiple options to set it up, and we are pretty happy overall with the door. I will note that the door has a lot of difficulty opening in wintry conditions, especially with snow and ice, but it provides enough convenience that I don't mind clearing the ice when necessary. I suspect that any door I would purchase would have similar issues, so plan your installation accordingly. A tunnel would likely help to prevent the worst of the issues, so I will probably install something similar next year. ... show more

    • So far it's working and doing what I expected it to do.
So far, this has been a nice addition to our little chicken "farm". Although it's only been installed for a few days, it's performed as expected and has saved us the trouble of manually opening and closing the coop every day. First it is well built. 2) IMO the door is a bit tight, but my chickens all make it through ok. 3) the instructions are non-existent... takes trial and error to get it right, the first night it closed with half the chickens still out and then the next day I had to manually open it to let them out. Having a good set of instructions, in English would be a great improvement. ... show more

Simple convenient device that means no more forgetting to open or close the coup door. This does it for you automatically. Door works well. both pics are taken with no flash. The 1st pic shows it open in the daytime. The 2nd pic shows it closed after dusk, again taken with no flash as there still is some light, but still not dark. The dusk sensor activated at the same time as some dusk to dawn lights I have on the property. So the light sensor works as it should. However, if you have some chickens that are slow to enter the coup, and you want more time after dusk. The door can be programmed to open and close at a time of your choosing. There is no time adjustment, what you have to do is set it to open, or close right at the time you desire. That is, if you want to open at 6:00 A.M. you have to physically set the open at 6:00 A.M. It then will remember that moment in time and will open again 24 hours later. Same for the close function. Or you can mix the auto and programmed functions. Such as Auto open at daylight and close at 7:30 P.M. , or open at 9:00 A.M. and Auto close at dusk. This will allow you to control the door for any situation you may want. The door installation is straight forward. But, you do need to take care when mounting the door, to not tighten the screws down too much as the frame is bendable and can bind the sliding door if the screws are too tight. I recommend mounting it to as flat a surface as possible, to minimize flexing and possible door binding. Keep in mind, the door does NOT need to be super tight to the mounting surface. Just secured enough to keep it in place, no need to over do it. All in all, a good solution I'm glad to have in place. ... show more
