I just received my wireless AUTO VOX RV Backup Camera. I already have a AUTO VOX camera & monitor system in my cargo van, and that one is beautiful and works well. I had great support from AUTOVOX with the install last time, so I was happy to try a second one, for my "Schoolie" RV, which would be difficult to wire along 40+ feet, with the whole 'house' in the way. The installation manual is clear, and has very good English grammar, so that of course is refreshing. This model allows you to power the camera in the rear, from a reverse light (if you only want back-up camera) or from a tail light if you want to always have a 'rear view mirror' style monitor. My RV is in storage quite a ways from home, so I bench-tested the camera and monitor in my garage. Both powered on right away, and were automatically synced, so the picture came up immediately. I wanted to test distance and interference, so I left the camera in the garage and walked across the street, hid myself and the monitor behind a car, closed the garage door, and still had a clean picture. I then walked down the street, so I was probably 60 feet away, again with the garage door both opened and then closed. The picture was still strong. This looks to be a winner for an easy RV install. The monitor also has a ball mount on the back that looks to make it very easy to adjust pan and tilt, so get your view angle right, from various heights. First off the camera is impressive, it’s heavy and seems to be made of aluminum and metal. Brackets and adjustments are great. Having had plastic cameras before, this is rock solid. The monitor is very good and has a sun shroud, this is important to keep the glare off the screen. The unit is plug and play, no pairing required, monitor plugs into cigarette lighter and camera can power off of day time running light. Technology is getting impressive, just for fun I wanted to see the range from camera to monitor. The camera was in my garage with doors closed, the monitor I took for a walk with a portable power supply. I was at 400ft before it started to loose signal. I was worried about wifi signal but don’t, the refresh rate is instant and better than a wired set up I have. Night vision is black and white and excellent in zero light. ... show more

    • Cannot use it while driving, constant flicker and black screen
With my Furrion camera I was able to watch my blind spot and confirm when I could get over - I cannot do that with this camera. The camera sometimes freezes showing a clear lane when there is actually a car there, and vise versa. I do not feel safe using this. It works ok backing into a camping spot - but that's it. My trailer is only 25ft. The docs suggest buying an extension antenna, but they do not offer one on their site. I'm currently waiting for a response from Auto-Vox. ... show more

I fitted the Auto-Vox W10 to my Lunar caravan. (length 5.1 metres). The caravan is not adapted with Furrion so could not utilise this feature. The camera is fitted below the vehicle number plate, centrally across the caravan, utilising an additional simple home-made bracket that is secured by screws into the base of the caravan. Equipment fitted inside the caravan would have made fitting the camera at a higher level and in the centre difficult. The camera is powered from a switched and fused connection from the caravan battery giving a permanent rear view on the monitor whilst travelling. The results obtained are very good with a bright and clear image on the monitor, also works well in low light conditions with the automatic infrared lights. Due to the shortage of flat surface on my dashboard I would have preferred the option of a windscreen mount but maybe not suitable for this size of monitor. In conclusion the camera was not too difficult to fit, the system worked immediately when powered up and I shall be a lot more confident when needing to reverse, especially when travelling alone. It does take a little bit of time to install the rear camera but once done you are nearly up and running. The range on the camera is amazing, I can unhook and still see the camera video when I am over 40' away. I wired the camera up to my RV and tapped into the rv "house" power. I like that the power can be for a 12v/24v system. The wires for the backup camera itself are very small and I think may have durability issues. The ends come pre-tinned and the protective casing is molded, preventing an easy way to separate the wires if you need some space to solder. The camera does also allow for a nice 90 degree sweep without interference with the wireless antenna. Back up front in the driver's seat, you can easily remove the monitor with a thumb screw. I would have preferred the base had a secondary base plate to have a flat item stay on the dash. Pros: - Range - 12v/24v - easy to remove monitor from dash Negatives: - camera wire gauge (less than 20) - camera has molded wire Other - uses 2.4 ghz so it might interfere/be distorted with a walkie-talkie ... show more

Installation was quick and easy. Just wire in a power source for the camera, and plug the monitor into the 12v port on the dash. Connected automatically! Signal strength and image quality is amazing.     • Great unit to use for longer trucks or with trailers
I bought this item to install a backup camera on an older truck that I own. the installation was very easy to do and I was a bit worried about the quality as other camera i've tried did not work well. However to my surprise, I was very pleased to see that the quality was in fact very good and clear. the screen is also very large so it helps visualizing backing up especially when youre trying attach a trailer to your truck.
