  • Great Functionality and Awesome looks
Size: 50 Amp Hardwired
Installed on our new construction build for the wife's new Genesis GV60. The charger goes great with our black house. Have it on a 60amp breaker at the max output of 48amps and we charge at about 11.4 kw. The application is pretty good but I do have problems with it not refreshing correctly, but that doesn't affect the actual functionality of the charger, just a minor annoyance. I also ended up buying a separate bracket to hold the cord on the wall, seems like something like that should be included, but not a big deal as I picked up a nice simple bracket on Amazon for $11 bucks or so. Overall very much recommend the charger. ... show more

  • Easy to use
Size: 40 Amp NEMA 14-50 plug
I programmed mine to come on after midnight to take advantage of non-peak hours. The cost feature is perfect. It’s nice to know that I spent $8.67 for the entire month of May and for 382 miles. Awesome app.

  • Works flawlessly on a dedicated circuit with a 50 amp GFCI circuit breaker (that's required by code)
Size: 40 Amp NEMA 14-50 plug
Confession…This was not the charger I went with initially. I initially bought the number one seller on Amazon even though it was more expensive. Long story short, I had issues with nuisance tripping with that charger to the point I could no longer deal with it. I ended up returning it for a full refund. My review is posted on that charger if you want details. I ended up purchasing this charger because it has the features I like. I like that you could wrap the charging cord around the unit and the built-in holster. It has a 25-foot cable. It has the ability to change the amperage output up to a max of 40 amps. It connects via bluetooth and/or wifi for easy setup. I also needed a charger that could plug into a 14-50 outlet. I wanted an outlet as opposed to hardwiring. This way, we could have more flexibility utilizing the outlet along with being able to easily change out chargers if need be. Plus, we already had the outlet installed by a certified electrician. We went with a 14-50 outlet on a 50 amp dedicated circuit with a 50 amp GFCI circuit breaker. This outlet was installed to code with permit. As an extra added bonus, this charger was $300 less than the first charger I initially purchased. Conclusion… This level 2 charger has worked flawlessly with zero nuisance tripping. So, if you are installing a level 2 charger on a dedicated circuit with a 50 amp GFCI circuit breaker because your electrical code requires you to do so, I highly recommend purchasing this Autel MaxiCharger. Update: After 6 months, still working flawlessly. Love it! ... show more

  • Built Like a Tank. Easy to Install. Cord and Plug Unwieldy Though
Size: 40 Amp NEMA 6-50 plug
Replaced a nine year old Siemens EV charger that randomly went belly up one day. This will go up to 40A but the Siemens was a 30A so only a 40A breaker was installed. That said, we can go up to 32A on this circuit so a slight increase in charging speed is nice. You can adjust max charging on this bad boy (easily) by popping the front cover and using a small flat head screw driver. This seems like its built to commercial standards, which I hope will mean it lasts longer than the last one did. Nine years seems like a long time but these are essentially just fancy extension cables with some smart features. That all said, this was well worth the price and we are happy with it so far. Its much prettier and even more modern looking than the old one, but the cable is pretty damned heavy, and your not gonna easily stow it away. The J1772 connector probably weighs near five pounds and feels like its made out of metal. Like the title says, a bit unwieldy but solid as heck. The app is simple, but very nicely done and gives you plenty of data, with the ability to lower output or stop charging if needed. Helpful tip... If youre not hardwiring make sure to mount the charger exactly the distance to the plug as that cable is stiff and has almost no play in it. Also make sure to get the correct plug! We use 6-50 (three prong, no neutral), but I think 14-50 (w/ neutral) may be more common. ... show more

  • Hands down, the best smart EVSE currently on the market!
Size: 50 Amp Hardwired
The title that previously belonged to the Chargepoint Home Flex, now belongs to the Autel Maxicharger. Not only is this Autel unit better built with better internal components, as confirmed by my electrician who commented about the quality of the unit's internals compared to all the many other EVSEs in the market that they've installed. Even the passive cooling designed into the unit is commendable - it seems built to last! The icing on the cake is the fact that it has extra connectivity features that set it even further apart compared to other EVSE, like bluetooth, ethernet, and RFID activation. Granted, most people probably don't need such features in their EVSE, but definitely nice to have for some. I have the hardwired built-in holster version and my electrician placed it on a 70A breaker which allowed the maximum 50A charging output and up to 12kW of charging, assuming your EV supports it. My EV only supports up to 48A but this EVSE is still perfect in my book. Autel's software is great too. Downloaded the app, created an account to log-in with (no credit card info needed), paired it to my phone via bluetooth after scanning a QR code and entering a passcode from the quick start manual, and it was good to go! First firmware update completed in less than 10 mins without issues. But what may really set this apart for some people is the fact that compared to the Chargepoint Home flex and Tesla chargers that my neighbors who share nearby parking spaces with me have, my Autel unit is the only one that can actually connect to our lobby wifi router reliably for an internet connection. Neighbor's Tesla charger doesn't connect at all, and other neighbor's Chargepoint loses connection constantly and fails to reconnect for hours. So far, my new Autel has remained continuously connected to the same wifi network for a week now. So that might be a big deal for some who are looking for a smart EVSE that they plan on installing at a more challenging distance from the nearest wireless access point, and for those where wifi is just too far, the Autel has the option of running a long wired ethernet cable for an internet connection. Highly recommend this unit. Cheaper than the Chargepoint and better in every way I can think of. ... show more
