    • Great little grinder! Perfect for small jobs and nicely light weight for older hands.
I got this mainly for cutting hardened steel axles for old Erector and Meccano type sets. It came with three cutoff discs, a flap wheel, and a couple of blades, one toothed for wood(?) and the other a diamond for tile/stone. The instructions are abit of a fiasco, as they are all written in Cyrillic alphabet, probably Russian but I'm not sure being totally unfamiliar with such. Since I've used tons of hand grinders it was really easy to figure out, and it's pretty standard. The only thing different than normal is instead of a stud to hold the arbor while you tighten or loosen the wheels, there's a half-ring collar instead. The guard turns easily to the left or right only 90 degrees, so easy to cut side or down with it. It would be nice if it turn 180 degrees, but being right handed it good for me. (It looks like there's three torques screws that you could loosen around it to change it if need be. I didn't try because it's fine for me as is. Would have been nice if instructions included pictures.) I'd not figured that it'd have much umph, as it's only 12v, but my needs are not heavy-duty, and I'd really rather not be using one of the larger grinders that I used so much in the scene shop, or my small dremel that I had been using for these axles. This was a perfect sized for me, fits well and performs MUCH better than expected. The batteries had enough charge to test it out quite well, and were simple to charge to full capacity with the small provided charger. I also like the fact that it has indicator lights to let you know about how much power is left. It's nice to not have YET ANOTHER large charger sitting taking up space on my workbench, just a little plug in one that can sit on my power strip. I've not had it bog down at all on any of the smaller steel axles that I've cut, including some larger bolts that needed shortening. At this price I think its a good buy for my usage, and with two batteries in the box it seems to me super. I'm still somewhat amazed at it's power for just a 12v system. Not sure how well it'll stand the usage over time, but for now it's a great little tool that I really like. ... show more

This tools is really good. The only issue, is that mine came with absolutely no instructions. They would have been helpful, and saved me some time and problem solving. That being said, I was not going to take away one star for the lack of instructions. This tool is top notch. It comes with a half dozen cutting discs and two 12V batteries. Having a second battery is a definite plus. The first thing i did was charge both batteries. Standard procedure for me, as most tools come with the batteries only partially charged. These are lithium ion batteries, rather than the standard NiMH or the NiCAD. It took a bit to figure out how to lock the cutting wheel. There is a collar around the wheel, which you slightly squeeze and lift up. This locks the cutting wheel. The motor is brushless, another plus, and is rated at approx 20,000 rpm. I cannot verify this, but I can say that the grinder performed very well. I was very impressed with the power generated by this 12V battery. Usually a higher voltage will result in a stronger tool but surprisingly, this had more than enough power for the tasks I put it through. The only thing, is that I am sure there are more features that I do not know about, since there were no instructions, which also show the features of the tool. I have contacted the seller to see if I can get a copy of the instruction manual- either a paper copy or a downloadable one. The tool itself is very comfortable to hold, well balanced, and you can use it for a long time without tiring, as it is not too heavy, yet very solid. Definitely pro grade. This is a pretty small grinder, and I didn't expect too much from it. I have to say it did surprise me in a good way. I unpacked it and inserted a battery and turned it on. 2 of 4 LEDs came on so I removed the battery and connected it to the charger. This is where a problem was encountered, the jack in the battery was not centered and pin seems larger than the second battery. See picture, I was able to push the jack to the left and attach the charger but was not impressed with the quality of the batteries. If you have the same problem be sure to use something nonelectrical conductive to pry the jack over. Another issue was the instructions. Usually there are different languages on the paper, and you need to find one you can understand, this one is all Russian, I think. Instructions are not really needed if you have used a grinder before though. One thing that took a bit to figure out is how to lock the drive while installing the disk. Usually you push and hold a button to lock the head. This has a U-shaped band around the head that you push up and lock away from being centered and this stops the rotation of the drive. Once I figured that out I was impressed with that option. You might be asking now. Does it work? Once I got the battery charged and fiber disk installed, I walked out to a 3/8 hardened bolt that was an inch to long. I figured this grinder would bog down and I would have to feather it to keep the speed up. I was wrong, I turn it on got it up to speed and then cut that bolt off in a few seconds.
