  • Failed after 2.5 years....
Loved this when it was working...then it just stopped. started crackling and hissing randomly, and now the phantom power isn't working and its a brick....an expensive brick. We got a Scarlett as a backup, and it has been working amazingly since this one died....I would save the cash on this one and go elsewhere. Also, tech support was kinda poor. Several emails and calls to them, and no help from them at all....it unfortunate as they have a great product, when it works. ... show more

  • Very Good for the Price Range
PROS: 1) Excellent preamps 2) Really low latency even in INPUT monitoring in your DAW. This is a "wow" for a USB connection. 3) Mix Control software is easy and intuitive 4) Good DAC Headphone amp conversion and volume 5) Nice interface 6) Solid box construction. Thick metal chassis. 7) Worked flawlessly with iMac and DAW (Logic Pro X, Reaper) CONS 1) Arrived with a dead Channel One (so I returned it) 2) There was a mismatch in the digital ADAT. My other units didn't do this, so it's not perfectly timed to other units if you are converting from SPDIF to ADAT In the end I'd say that for $100 less, the Focusrite 2Pre maybe be a solid buy, but it had worse latency despite being Thunderbolt.. Plus you gotta like this Desktop style. I ended up with the Apollo which is way better in every way, but of course, $400 more too. So you get what you pay for sometimes. So I liked the latency but didn't like the digital problems this presented. Unless you are going straight up ADAT to ADAT. ... show more

  • Great features, terrible longevity
In 2015, I bought an iD22 and built my voiceover studio around its incredibly flexible routing, inputs, and outputs. Most of the time, I ran an external signal chain into one of the returns, but I also used the iD22's extremely clean pre-amps for a desk mounted mic that I used for podcasts and other tasks that didn't require my vocal booth. I loved it! 18 months later, it stopped working. The status light would come on, but no input would register, whether from a digital in, an analog return in, or the XLR in. Audient support replied that it was past the 12 month warranty and wasn't repairable. I liked it so much that I bought another one. It worked great . . . for another 18 months. Yesterday, while trying to run an MKH416 through one of the pre-amps, I couldn't get any incoming signal. After some troubleshooting, the issue is that the 48V phantom power is only putting out 23V. That applies to both XLR inputs directly at the XLR jacks. Once again, it's just past the warranty period and can't be repaired. I definitely won't be buying a third. Unfortunately, I haven't found another preamp with the routing and signal path flexibility of the iD22, so I may keep it on my desk for that reason, but - at least while the rest of the unit functions - run my signal through another pre-amp with phantom power and then into the return inputs on the iD22. Two stars for its spectacular routing flexibility and excellent sound, but minus three stars for its lack of longevity and repairability. An 18 month life is not acceptable. Frustrating and very disappointing for a $500 audio interface... ... show more

  • Great audio quality at a reasonable price.
Nothing but good things to say about this interface. I am on Windows 7 Pro - I feel it's important to mention that since I haven't experienced any issues with the drivers, other operating systems may not have the same luck. I haven't experienced any clicking or pops like I've seen in some other reviews. With that out of the way we can get into the pro's and cons. Pros: - The preamps are unbelievably clean for the price you're paying. - Very low noise floor. - The converters are great, especially if you're switching from something like a Focusrite 2i2. - The mix control software is simple, no steep learning curve there. - Construction of the unit is rock solid. - It has ADAT/SPIDF connectivity, meaning you can add an additional 2 to 8 inputs with additional hardware. Cons: - If I had to be picky, I'd say the lack of power switch could be complained about, but it doesn't really bother me. All in all if you're looking to upgrade from something like a 2i2, the iD22 won't dissapoint you. From my personal experience, both the hardware and software are very reliable. More importantly the sound quality is up to par with most of your "higher end" gear. ... show more

  • Really great quality
Ive been using the id22 for nearly a year now. This was an instant upgrade... This is the best money that I've spent on my project studio. These mic pres are some of the best you can buy without spending hundreds more per channel. They are crystal clear, open and airy. I was surprised by the dramatic improvement over my tascam pre's. Brown Burr top of the line conversion - enough said. The build quality is excellent. Metal case with solid smooth pots, the switches are good, not great. The app is as described. It's excellent for zero latency monitoring. A bit of a learning curve but otherwise fairly simple. The meters are an excellent feature, much easier to properly gain stage. Audient is an excellent company with helpful friendly and responsive support. I've had to contact them on numerous occasions and they are a pleasure to intetact with. I did alot of research before i dropped my cash on what was to be the centerpiece of my studio. I haven't second guessed my decision to go with the id22 once.... In fact, I've since upgraded all my pre's to Audient. I'll keep buying whatever they put out. ... show more
