I think this will be incredibly useful for most people. I think I needed a softer mat that would custom my incisions, or a mat that has borders within so I could cut a straight line. Keep in mind, I'm a novice and my hands are a bit shaky, so I personally need something more guided. I use this for cutting leather on, it works well. The “exact9” type knife is ok, the body is aluminum and the blades are sharp but thin. They flex when cutting thick things.

I bought this to cut through acrylic like it stated it would. I had a hard time with all the blades cutting through cardboard so obviously did not cut through acrylic.
