  • Lightweight and easy to use
Style: Premium Bundle Backpack Vacuum
I just started my own cleaning company and wanted something that was light weight to carry with me to jobs that also wouldn’t kill my back and this vacuum is perfect. The only flaw I can find is where to put the attachments. I know the belt has small loops in it to stick the attachments in but I worry I’ll lose them. The suction is great on this thing and I do love the number of attachments it came with. I’ve used in both residential and commercial settings with low pile carpet, plush carpet and hard floors and it works great in all settings. ... show more

  • First Impressions - Impressed!
Style: Standard Bundle Backpack Vacuum
We just received our first Atrix vacuum. We own several models of Proteam backpacks for our cleaning company. We decided to try something different and more economical because we are constantly having to repair our Proteam vacs, mainly switches (every year) and occasionally EXPENSIVE motors, among other small problems like our side filters constantly getting blown out of the filter doors. Our cleaners often complain about how cumbersome Proteam vacs feel when they are advertised to be easy to use and ergonomic. (I also use these vacs and know them like the back of my hand. And In my experience, it seems that the ergonomics break down pretty quickly with use.) These issues led me to seek out another alternative to meet our cleaning standards and cleaner needs. I set-up my Atrix vacuum today and gave it a test run. Immediately, I noticed that the backpack mount and ROBUST velcro waist band is a huge support. The vacuum felt light, and I was able to easily move around. I really appreciated the handle that attached to the hose and above the pole attachment. It made for a natural experience. The vacuum didn't rotate/shift on my back what-so-ever. (It was a contrast I wasn't use to.) Suction and power seems very good (tested on carpet and hard floor). I used the spinning brush attachment on durable hard floor in the kitchen. No noticeable debris kickback for random crumbs, a popcorn kernel or 2, and other small bits. The vacuum is on the quieter-ish side when compared to the power it seems to have. I sent the vacuum off with the cleaners to use today. Attachments for this model look okay and haven't been tested. I will probably purchase their Pro-grade hair brush tool. I am throughly happy that this vac came with a spinning floor tool and all-purpose floor tool without an additional cost. The construction seems solid. I am curious how it will handle the ware-and-tear of moving from job-to-job. (We own a residential and commercial mobile cleaning business. Every couple hours or so, we are on to the next job.) Anyone who operates backpack vacs knows the problematic extension cord issue. Vertical hanging clips don't always hold in place, and cleaners end up stressing the vacuum, power cord, and extension cord by tying the extension cord around the power cord. It's a huge no-no, but it happens out of necessity and annoyance when the extension constantly breaks free from the power source during use. Atrix has created a cool solution by permanently mounting a horizontal clip that provides (so far) the best support and tension I've seen. The extension prongs fit very, VERY snugly into the power cord. Lastly, I really appreciate the cloth-like debris collection bag. The interior of the vac seems very well sealed to prevent dust from escaping and infiltrating to the internal parts. In conclusion, so far, so great! However, I still have a lot of observing to do. Proteam's vacuum uses a very durable plastic body construction that can take some beating. I don't know if Atrix plastic body will hold up or not. It appears more ridged. Time will tell. Power/suction seemed good during the test run, but how will it hold up over time? How/when will it deteriorate as the bag and/or filters fill? How long will the rotating spin brush hold up? (I had issues with Proteam's attachment dying on me fairly quickly.) What will the suction be like when using the attachments? I will update my review once we've spent a little more time. That said, first impressions: I'm impressed! ... show more

  • Going like Ghostbusters
Style: Standard Bundle Backpack Vacuum
I waited a couple of months before posting, just to be sure I was giving this a thorough rating. Overall I like this vacuum, and recommend it. Nearly all my vacuums in the past have been uprights with power beater bars. That's great for houses that are primarily carpet, but not so much for wood floors. So when we removed most of the carpet in our house for wood, bamboo, and cork I went looking for a better solution. The great thing about the Atrix is that it's easy to carry around on your back, rather than using one hand to muscle around a heavy upright or drag a canister behind you. Although it does stick out a bit, there wasn't as much of a problem with banging walls or other things as I thought there would be. I have a bit of a rotator cuff strain so the light wand and hose for this is much less stress than an upright. I love being able to vacuum stairs without dragging the vacuum behind me. It just feels so easy to wander around with this vacuum, you'll definitely want an extension cord of at least 35 feet and preferably more. The vacuum itself only has a stub and a bracket for making sure the cord doesn't get pulled loose. The Atrix has a great smooth floor attachment that I use for most of our rooms. We have 3 cats, a dog, and two women with long hair living in the house, so the brushes on the attachment tend to get clogged with a lot of fur and hair. I find it's helpful to use a comb at the end of each cleaning session to pull out all the junk stuck in the floor attachment brushes. The bags are big enough that they last several vacuuming passes, which surprised me given the fur and hair load in this house. For our remaining area rugs, I was impressed with the air-powered beater bar attachment. It's not as powerful as an upright but does well enough to get the rugs decently clean. Because it's not high torque, there's no danger of mangling cables or other delicate items with the beater bar. The other small attachments like the crevice and brush can fit into loops in the belt part of the backpack so it's easy to grab one and use it for a minute if you need to pull some junk out of a corner. As others have said, the straps on the backpack could have been made a bit more ergonomic, I find that I sometimes have to catch them as they want to slide off the shoulders. Of course, I don't tend to do the same acrobatics with plain backpack that I do with a backpack vacuum. The main challenge is figuring out where to put this thing when it's not on your back. I took a wire clothes hanger to improvise a hanger for it in our closet, and used a separate hanger with a plastic shopping bag for holding all the attachments. ... show more
