This laptop is a beast when it comes to gaming , I upgraded my sons laptop which was a MSI Katana i7 10 series intel with a 2070 super and let me tell you this Asus is a much faster pc , havent had it long so cant say too much but will update as time goes on. Only issue I have had is no fault of the seller at all , but UPS some how lost my package and was told by amazon to place another order and i would be credited back for the first order but out of no where the first PC shows up before the credit was even applied so now going through the process of returning one of the laptops but so far the seller has been great no issue with requesting my return due to the shipping mishap so hopefully this one arrives back and i am credited back for the orginal laptop. Will update this review once everything is settled and i have time to use this laptop further. ... show more

    • Extremely Disappointed – Expensive Paperweight After Less Than 3 Weeks
I really wanted to like this laptop. I had high hopes for the ASUS ROG Strix G17, especially since it was meant for both work and (eventually) gaming. But after less than three weeks of use, it's been a complete nightmare. The laptop keeps getting stuck in a display loop, and on the rare occasion I manage to get into Windows, it freezes within 15 minutes or hits me with a blue screen. I haven’t even had a chance to run a single game on it. This was supposed to be a high-performance machine, but right now it’s completely unusable. What’s worse is that I live outside of the US, and despite that, I was still willing to try returning the item. But Amazon tells me “you don't have any returnable items for this order” and the laptop is not eligible for a refund. So now I’m stuck with a very expensive machine that doesn’t work, can’t be returned, and may need costly repairs—before I’ve even used it properly. To add insult to injury, I also bought an ASUS gaming mouse to go with it. I thought I was investing in quality, but this experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I’m extremely unhappy and won’t be buying ASUS again. ... show more

Great for gaming also artwork and just surfing to internet. It does it all. 100% satisfied. ASUS puts out some great machines. Check specs and processers, memory before you buy any computer to make sure it will run with what you are using the computer for.

Bought this for my son to replace an older gaming laptop. The difference between this and a 4-year-old MSI is remarkable. The graphics are amazing, the computer is lightning fast, and it stays very cool even after 8-10 hours of gaming. The fans are quiet, too. He and I are very happy.

    • Love the power, not the random freeze ups.
This laptop is amazing but it has some flaws in either software or hardware. The issues I've faced have to deal with the laptop going into sleep mode on the sign in page which cause it to freeze and causing you to force reboot, the other being that the laptop got a Windows update then proceeded to go into a blue screen of death boot loop. Luckily the laptop has a built in recovery system but I did lose all my files and install so be warned. Laptop is pretty good, disable the quick sleep of the laptop and make sure to backup your files and you should be golden. ... show more

I have only had this laptop for a short time, and have not used it extensively yet. But so far, I love it! It will be replacing a 12-year old Dell Inspiron, which is still going strong, but is painfully slow when trying to do things like enhancing photos, watching videos, or even having too many windows open, etc. The new ASUS ROG is of course designed for gaming, but I plan to use it mainly for my everyday computer needs. It boots up in seconds, and apps also open up incredibly fast. It came with Windows 11 Pro which so far I'm not too crazy about, but I supposed I'll get used to it. One minor negative (to me) is that when opening the laptop, the lid is such that there is only about 1/4" of the plastic around the edge of the screen. So unless I'm really careful it is easy to get fingerprints around the edge of the screen. Not a big deal, but a personal annoyance.
