Got this a replacement after I bought my dad a Milwaukee branded angle grinder and he lost it at a job site; and judging by the price I didn't expect it to be amazing but not as bad as we got it. It weighs and feels like a children's toy in your hand and even at full charge overnight and it barely started. We tried changing it out to a similar battery we had and even left it an extra 5 hours with the replacement battery and still just was awful.     • OK, but with some major caveats

So it's probably not super obvious but this tool is NOT a 5/8 or 7/8 arbor. It's an M14-2 spindle. The included nuts allow for 7/8 wheels. But if you are looking to thread a wire cup on the tool, you'll either need an adapter or specific M14-2 wire cups. I bought these for a specific "dirty" job that I don't want to waste a real Makita on (of which I have several). Cleaning up a really rusty axle is going to be a mess, and I don't feel like killing "a" tool that costs twice as much as two of these. So I'm willing to accept they aren't high-end tools. But neither is my 20 year old HF grinder either...and it's still running. Other than the spindle thread they seem to run well and are a relative bargain at this price. So here is an unvarnished opinion on these from a long time Makita guy; -The cases and included wheels/sandpaper are complete trash and pointless. They could ship the tool with just the guard and handle and that would be sufficient at this price. As it is...just one more waste of cheap plastic to throw away. -The spindle lock drags pretty loudly on them. At first I thought it was the bearings, but there is little to no play in the spindle. On further review the arbor lock is absolutely making contact when it's not depressed. I'm guessing (hoping) this will wear in with time. -The indicator buttons on the bottom don't light up unless you momentarily hit the grinder's on switch. -The switch is kind of janky. Otherwise the rest of the tool itself doesn't feel that bad. The body is glass filled nylon and not far off from what Makita uses. -Both of the tools I received soft start. They take a little bit to come up to speed. If you are used to plug in style, this might seem odd. They do reach full speed quickly though. And I didn't notice them having any issues if resistance is applied to the spindles. Overall, I'm hopeful that these will do the job. I'm not expecting $200 tools here. But I'm taking away one star for not including the exact spindle nut/arbor size information in the ad [IT SHOULD BE IN THE TITLE!], or just throwing an 5/8 adapter in the box. ... show more
