  • Check to make sure it is actually NEW!
I have a lot of Arturia products, software and MIDI controllers, and I really like them. I was looking forward to getting this one. I always inspect anything I buy from Amazon these days because I've been sent used items, sold as new, in the past. I don't mind buying used gear, but I'm not going to pay new prices for them. This item was definitely not new. The first clue was it did not have a protective plastic film over the front panel, like my Arturia Keystep 37 did. This may be new packaging protocols, maybe not. Then I noticed scuff marks on the upper part of the front panel between the third and fourth track displays (see picture). There were also a couple of drops of what appeared to be dried fluid of some sort on the left side of the front panel. It could've been a beverage. It could've been a sneeze. I don't know what it was, but it was kinda gross. The five stars is for the product which is great. I plan on buying another one. If I could separately give Amazon zero stars for allowing used items to be sold as new, I would. This is not an isolated incident. Check your purchases from Amazon carefully. ... show more

  • Mostly works alright, convenient size, easy sequencing, has aftertouch.
I bought one to try it out. Listing cons first, then pros based on what I had experienced. Cons: I have had the following problems so far, reproducible: -USB MIDI - Turn off unit to save my eyes before bed, while a laptop is still connected to it and powered on, although sleeping. - Upon turning the KSP back on, the sequencer can trigger "locked notes" and the only fix is to entirely close Ableton Live (11) and reopen. -Occasionally without doing anything, notes simply won't respond despite seeing the MIDI input showing as being received from within Ableton Live. Only fix for this one is to restart the device, then it seems to work fine again, but may cause the note lock problem from using the sequencer after, that has been inconsistent. -This is more of a personal gripe.. But I don't think there is a full "sleep" mode for the KSP, no way to tell it to go nightnight, The "vegas mode" can be disabled, but the lights do not turn off, it just makes the device not go into sleep mode anymore, screensaver option only applies to the small displays. Those were the main quirks I've encountered with it, this is on the current firmware. There's probably other little issues here and there, I just have not seen them so far. Not sure how responsive Arturia is to reported issues. The note lock thing has been reported by others in the past. Pros: -Rapidly being able to put a sequence together, or add/replace notes rapidly in an already created sequence. Rapid as in.. first power on it took seconds to have a bassline going since the KSP allows "per step" recording or you can just hold a step while overdub is enabled and add multiple notes. -It's portable, can easily toss this one (with a deck saver or something similar) into a larger backpack or suitcase with a laptop/interface in it and off you go. -It has channel aftertouch. Didn't even expect such a feature on it until I read more info while messing around with it. -The KSP is built like an RGB baby tank for what it is. -Easier to read the text on the Chroma version until you get the hang of where all the controls are. ... show more

  • All my midi synths under control with and easy user interface
New to synths and wanted to try a machine that allows me to sync my various 2000's era stuff together. This works like a charm, watch a few youtube tutorials and you can pick it up within a couple of days.
