I have an 11-month-old Yorkie puppy who is very energetic and lets me know when it’s time to go out. I have always seen this product and decided to give it a try now - my intention was to put it in the backyard in such a way that I could just open the sliding door and let her do her stuff. Further, my backyard is contained within a lanai, so I’m confident she won’t get lost or stolen. Once I unrolled this mat, she started smelling it and after a few hours she started using it to pee. I was surprised how quickly she knew it was for that! I contemplate it’s because it looks and feels very real as the front lawn. I would like to highlight the holes in the bottom are handy for cleaning purposes, so nothing would stay on top after a pressured stream of water. The only thing I didn’t like is the mat releases some sort of black debris, which I guess it comes from the bottom of it. I recently received this "LGR SHINE Artificial Grass Turf for Dogs 5 ft x 10 ft,1.38 inch Fake Grass Pee Pad for Potty Training,Extra Large Grass Rug for Indoor/Outdoor Patio,Dogs Wee Wee Pad,Turf Grass Mat for Pets." which serves as the "soft grassy area" for my pup to use when I'm gone for the day. We have her "pee area" set up just outside the sliding glass door, accessible via doggy door, and this artificial turf has been the upgrade she's been wanting for months! This product arrived in a pretty large box, all rolled up like a rug-wrapped corpse, ready to be dumped into the nearest river! It took a little time after getting it to retool the actual ground where the rug would eventually be placed, but after clearing out the rocks and smoothing out the dirt to make it flat-ish, we put this in place and secured it with some ground spikes. Loving that it has the drain holes spaced throughout - I was concerned about drainage, but so far it hasn't been an issue. Seems to be holding up, though I will update this review later in the year if it doesn't hold up after it has been subjected to full sun exposure for a few months. Durability isn't really something I can determine yet, but you will know it hasn't fallen apart if there isn't a header on this review that looks like [EDITED XX/XX/XX] - which is what I'll do when/if I have to come say things went poorly. I don't expect that to happen though because the fibers aren't fraying or coming loose yet and I've not had any unexpected debris coming off it when cleaning. The grass roll came covered in a protective shipping bag, and then the roll was tightly wrapped with plastic. It arrived in good condition and well packed. Because the grass is rolled and tightly wrapped for shipping, it does take a day or so in the sun to fully flatten out. The grass blades are matted down and need "brushing". I have a synthetic grass rake with plastic teeth, which worked great to get the blades to stand up. If you don't have a plastic rake, other tools can work - including your hands. But a plastic rake will make it look good in minutes. I have other large sections of synthetic grass in my yard, and I can say that I like this brand better. My other grass requires quite a bit of top filled sand and a lot of raking to get the blades to stand up properly. This is typical for synthetic grass installation. With this grass, I was surprised that I was able to get the grass blades to stand up so well with only raking. With that said, I still plan to add some sand when it goes in it's permanent location, as it will help keep it in place when windy. The grass is comfortable to sit on and the blade length is perfect. Not too long, but long enough to imitate the length of a real grass field. Great option for pets or kids to play on, and very low maintenance. The price is also very reasonable. The cost works out to under 2.50 a square foot, which would typically be the cost for low pile putting green synthetic grass. Good quality at a good price, recommend! ... show more

I've tried other providers of artificial turf and none of them have been overly appealing. Either they're cut too short, or the "grass" is too sparse, but they've always looked and felt like a green "mat." This turf is altogether different... it's thick and feels like grass on your bare feet. It doesn't retain heat in the sun like many other turf products, so you don't burn your feet if you step on it. My dog LOVES it... when she's on the deck, she can usually be found on this piece of turf with one of her chewies. She's only used the mat once to toilet, but that was an "emergency." Otherwise, she always goes down the deck to the grass below. As described, the turn does have drainage holes in the back so that liquids pass through. The design is such that water doesn't concentrate under the mat but drains through. The design is heavy enough that the turn isn't impacted by high winds. The fact that this piece is 6-foot by 12-foot may have some impact on that. Based upon my experience so far, I find no reason not to recommend this product, and I would order it again. In fact, I'm considering doing just that so that the dog has an even larger area to call her own on our deck! ... show more

We cut our mat up and made 3 smaller mats that fit on Boot mats with a puppy pad underneath. It's been super helpful for our two small dogs, and our 14 year old girlie who can barely hold it overnight anymore.
