Just be sure to rinse the rice before using to remove the excess starch. We love this rice cooker so much! We use it at least a few times a week. It steams the rice perfectly and keeps it warm once it’s cooked. Just be careful not to leave it in there too long after cooking, when it’s set back on warm, as it can dry out some of the side portions and bottom portions of the rice. We usually use jasmine rice, but you can use it for practically any kind of rice. We like it so much that when family came to visit and they loved how our rice turned out that we decided to buy another one for our family members for Christmas. It’s not too big -doesn’t take up too much space, but it can cook a large amount of rice at one time. Be sure you’re following the instructions for rice preparation and depending on the type of rice to soak and drain it (we use a mesh strainer) before you add the appropriate amount of water and voila, you’ve got the best steamed rice you’ll ever have. Use the measuring scoop and keep an eye on the water lines in the rice pot, and if need be, carefully stir the rice (if desired) holding edge of steam bowl with a potholder but it should turn out perfect either way!
