  • Does what it is supposed to do.
This is a good simple rice cooker. This one I just ordered is a replacement for the exact same one that lasted 7 years. It was used frequently and was our fault that the last one failed prematurely. I can definitely recommend this rice cooker. It is simple and easy to use.

  • Simple yet awesome!
I have quite a collection of rice cookers of different sizes and with even slow cooker settings. I find myself using this one most. It is a nice size for 3 adults + enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. There are so many foods I have made in it that have freed me from babysitting the food on the stove. In this cooker I have made many different rices including white, brown, black, and red cargo. I have also baked a small chicken, made bbq ribs, a chuck roast, different soups, stews, several grains, casserole's, even homemade mac’n cheese. I have also taken it outside and cooked on my patio table with it (we have outdoor plugs for the electric mower, trimmer). In the summer when I don’t want to cook inside while I’m running the air conditioning. It’s just a simple and wonderful cooking wonder. As long as you have the correct amount of water or broth, you’re set. I have even put canola oil and it makes wonderful fried chicken. So versatile & portable! Made homemade mashed potatoes in it on Sunday after making the fried chicken. My husband and I had a picnic with it in the yard. :-) Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Very Pleased!
January 29, 2013: After TWENTY-FOUR months of use, I am still very pleased with my purchase. Not only does this rice cooker work well, but the price is fantastic! I cook 2-4 cups of rice (both brown and white - long grain, short grain, basmati, jasmine, etc.) at least two or three times a week and have not had any problems so far. It's easy to clean, the rice doesn't stick to the bottom, the rice (both brown and white) cooks well, and water does not bubble out even when cooking the full 4 cups of rice. Perfect for two people. I don't know why so many people have had issues with this rice cooker. I assume that they didn't grow up with rice cookers. Yes, the rice cooker can't be "shut off" while it's plugged in, but I've NEVER owned a rice cooker that did. I'm pretty sure you would have to buy a fancy rice cooker to get that feature, but who wants to spend that kind of money when rice cookers should just be simple and effective? Just unplug it - it's not that difficult. The only downside is that once you plug the rice cooker in, the cook light immediately comes on, even before you press the button down to start cooking the rice. So unless you pay attention to what you're doing, you'll think your rice is cooking when really it's just sitting there! After TWENTY-FOUR months of use, the coating inside the removeable pot has not bubbled, and it doesn't look like it will begin to peel or chip off anytime soon. Speaking from experience, don't buy any cheap rice cooker with a black non-stick coating on the inside. That coating will eventually start to peel off and get into your rice. Not yummy. ... show more

  • Awesome Rice Cooker
This rice cooker makes tasty rice and is extremely easy to use, easy to keep clean! I've been making small batches of Jasmin rice and found that the ratio of 1 cup rice and 2 cups of water makes some of the best rice I have eaten in years! I highly recommend this rice cooker!

  • Careful with the warm setting...
I purchased this rice cooker for my husband who loves rice like nobody else. We had seen this at Target originally and compared to the other models we've seen, this one was much better. We love the push button lid. It makes a super secure and tight seal as opposed to other cookers where the lid simply sits on top like a standard crock pot lid would. There's no seal! For making good rice, you need a good sealing lid to keep the steam in. So this model was a winner not only for the seal, but the price as well. Its super easy to operate with a two setting button COOK and WARM....it pops to the warm setting at the end of the cook cycle automatically. You really need to watch this however as rice left on the warm setting can and will continue to cook and shouldn't be left long at all to avoid burning. (that was our first experience) Good thing is that it cleans up quickly! Also, be aware that when you plug it in - its immediately on warm and is heating. There is no OFF setting. You just simply unplug it. All in all, its a great product. ... show more

  • Doesn’t work
I bought this product in August and it worked perfectly well twice. Third time I used the product it turned off midway through cooking the rice. Turned it on a couple of times more and it eventually the rice cooked. Fourth time I used it, cooker wouldn’t even heat up. I’ve had a higher end Aroma rice cooker previously and it worked well and lasted for years. This one is junk quality. ... show more

  • Great little cooker!, but non-stick coating flakes off!
We fulltime in our RV and this is just the right size for two of us, plus another couple for company. We also have a larger, fancier version that we have had for a year and love the idea on both of them that the release of steam vapors are minimized by the design. Makes GREAT rice (if you follow the directions....you have to be aware that when the instructions talk about a "cup" of rice, or water, it means the included measuring cup, not an 8 oz measuring cup, which the instructions also warn you about). There is no steamer basket with this model, however, you could use a small steamer insert and it would work very well. The larger model we have includes the basket and we always use that for steaming. UPDATE: Oct. 16, 2012: We used this to make some soups, dips, and a lot of oatmeal. This non-stick coating has started to flake off so we are pitching it! If we had been more careful and stirred the pot more frequently, this might not of happened. ... show more

  • Makes perfect white rice just as good as more expensive units
For me this unit makes perfect white jasmine rice every time in about 20 minutes. I like it’s smaller size and capacity to cook enough rice for just my son and I, or to make a double batch and have plenty for work lunches. Super easy to clean, and measurements are precise.
