  • Great Entry-Level-Plus Machine
Pattern Name: MIG145 PRO Flux MIG Welder
Let me start by saying that I am a total beginner at welding. I am primarily a woodworker and am generally handy with many different types of trade work like plumbing, electrical, framing, etc. I like to dive deeply into a new craft with tons of online videos and books, so most of my work ends up being quite satisfactory (if not good). However, I am keenly aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect and try to recognize the line between what I can handle as an amateur and what kind of work requires a real professional. All of the above is to say that it was only a matter of time before I checked "welding" off my list of things to learn. I have so many small DIY/repair projects around my home that could benefit from welding, but just aren't something that a real professional would waste their valuable time on. Now I get to tackle those projects and feel that I was lucky to have cut my teeth on this particular welder by Arccaptain. First off, this thing has the capability of flux core wire welding (not actual MIG), stick welding, and even TIG welding (with the optional TIG torch and an argon tank with regulator). It connects to your standard 110/120 volt outlet and is about as plug and play as you can get with welders in that most of the settings are auto calculated and all you need to do is choose your welding type, wire diameter (for flux core), and adjust your amperage. It doesn't get much simpler than that. I had the best luck with the flux core wire welding. I did try to stick weld a couple of times, but I found the learning curve to be much steeper. I am super jealous of the clean welds I see with TIG welding, but I am not there yet in terms of skill, nor do I own the torch or argon tank for it. With all that being said, I still don't think this was a perfect fit for me. There's nothing wrong with it at all (it's a superb welder), but I actually have 220/240 volt outlets at my disposal, as well as a CO2 tank with a regulator. I do wish I could have tested out a model that does true MIG welding using gas and solid wire. Fingers crossed I get that opportunity in the future and can provide an honest review for you, but in the meantime, this is a fantastic machine to learn on. Highly recommended 5/5 for anyone getting started with welding. Tremendous value. ... show more

  • This Welder "Wins" the contest
Pattern Name: MIG145 PRO Flux MIG Welder
My husband is a former master welder and now that we're doing improvements around our property, he was needing something a bit more portable and easier to transport. I decided to go ahead and find one that I thought he would really enjoy using. I did some research and from what I could discern this Flux core MIG welder would be a wise choice. I ordered this and now that I have this home and have been able to let my husband use this- I can tell you that this is a substantially better MIG welder that we had previously. Another excellent feature that stood out over other welders is the fact that this has an APP. So you have more control over the welder. My husband is super impressed with how nicely this operates. Based on an excellent experience- I would recommend this to other consumers. This 3-1 welder does offer (3) different modes which makes this an outstanding investment. (MIG, MMA and Lift TIG) torch not included. Thanks for reading my review. I hope it was informative and helpful. :) ... show more

  • Mig, Tig and stick welder
Pattern Name: MIG145 PRO Flux MIG Welder
A three-in-one welder for under $200. This little welder is small but mighty. It comes with all the accessories plus flux to get you started. My husband is a master welder but didn't have a small one for the house. I grabbed this up as soon as I saw it. It also came with some cool stickers for his welding hood and toolbox. It connected to my standard 110/120-volt outlet at the house and is about as self-explanatory as you can get with welders in that most of the settings are pre-set and auto-calculated, and all you need to do is choose your welding type, wire diameter (for flux core), and adjust your amperage. I think this is a great beginning welder for those wanting to give it a try but it's just as reliable for the more experienced welder needing to get a job done. ... show more

  • I Really Had to Think About This
Pattern Name: MIG145 PRO Flux MIG Welder
4.75 Stars First I have to say I AM IMPRESSED! This came with EVERYTHING you need to use it including the flux you need to get started on projects. All you need is your helmet and a project. The Weight. I'm super surprised! As powerful as this is I was able to pick it up with ease. I'm a 64 year old woman and I don't have a lot of body strength. But this I could pick up. No Problem. My husband and future son-in-law are going to love using this after they get it as a Christmas present for them to use together. All the attachments you need come with this INCLUDING a cover that allows you to still use the handle to carry it but protects it when you move it around or travel with it. OH! Apparently there is also an app you can download that allows you to set the welder from your phone. All in All, I'm impressed and I'm going to be the QUEEN of Christmas this year! ... show more

  • Nice Light Duty Portable Welder
Pattern Name: MIG145 PRO Flux MIG Welder
I have a little MIG welding experience, but I'm still a novice. For those like me this welder has a lot to offer. it's small, portable, and appears ideal for "home shop" use. It comes with everything you need to set it up and start MIG Flux-Core welding. MMA and TIG welding both require some additional equipment. I read the User Manual and the instructions are straight forward. However, I discovered that while the welder only requires 120V, the Manual says "For optimal performance, connect the MIG145 to a 50A circuit." The Manual also says "Welding current range - 40-145A (MIG)". That's a little bit of a problem for me because the largest 120V circuit in my shop is 30A. This discovery is not a complete deal breaker for me because apparently my 30A circuit will only effect the welder's duty cycle, but this information could be important to other buyers. I believe a welder's best performance and operating range electric circuit requirements (volts and amps) should be disclosed in the Amazon product description. The overall quality, simplicity and features of the MIG 145 Pro make it a good first welder, and this welder can handle most home shop welding jobs. ... show more
