Functional, Yet Lacking in Craftsmanship

The SS4229S outdoor propane burner has some impressive specs on paper. Its 200,000 BTU high flame output is quite impressive and gives you the freedom to control your heat to the minutest degree. This feature is especially beneficial when you are outdoors and need an appliance that can handle a wide
range of cooking requirements. The PSI adjustable propane regulator is also noteworthy; it guarantees a fully controlled burner experience and ensures a leak-free connection, which, I must admit, is a comforting promise when dealing with flammable propane. The burner's frame, made of stainless steel, is intended to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, and the 10” heavy-duty cast burner is designed to last long. This model also touts an all-welded stainless steel frame, a design choice that presumably adds to its durability. In theory, these are fantastic features. However, the SS4229S is not without its flaws, which prevent me from awarding it a higher rating. My chief concern lies with the quality of the construction. Despite its all-welded steel frame, it does not sit flat due to what appears to be sloppy welding work. This issue isn't only a nuisance, but it also raises questions about the burner's long-term stability, especially when loaded with heavy pots or pans. Moreover, the warning sticker on the back of the unit seems poorly placed or inadequately designed. The first time I fired up the burner, the flame burned it off completely. This occurrence was slightly alarming and is something I would not expect from a product that advertises safety and reliability. Finally, while the portability of this propane burner is highlighted in the description, be aware that its size and weight might still make it somewhat cumbersome to transport. It's manageable, but not as effortless as I had hoped. In conclusion, the SS4229S outdoor propane burner delivers strong flame output and has the potential to be a solid outdoor cooking apparatus. However, its construction and design issues are enough to give me pause. If the manufacturer can iron out these kinks, it could be a stellar product. For now, it's a middling 3-star item in my book.

Great product! We had issues but it was user error.

I bought this burner for Thanksgiving and went to use it but thought it was defective -- but after trying again, we discovered it was probably user error. The first time, it did not give a very big flame -- in fact, it was impossible to heat 3 gallons of oil to 350 degrees, it just took forever. Afte
r retrying, I found that the connection to the tank did not seat right, and after a couple times of disconnecting and reconnecting, I got a much bigger flow of propane and an impressive flame. We are looking forward to trying it again.

I bought this burner a few weeks ago at roughly $142.00 and when it arrived something didn't look right when I unboxed it. It appear the frame was bent, so I contacted the seller, ASSUMING they would assist with my concerns. Ten days later no response from ARC . Since I needed the burner for somethin
g I was doing I tried to correct the problem which was bending one of the front legs back into place, which I did an okay job. I used the burner and it put out great heat and worked well. The Stainless steel was not like the SS turkey cookers I have, strange ? Given the time we are in I guess it will have to do, However I found a number of burners like this much cheaper with the same burner attached, so I would NOT recommend this item.

We bought this thing to cook crabs on. The pot we use has a base diameter that is just under 14 inches. The burner head on the cooker is just over 10 inches in diameter. On full heat, the area around the pot is very hot. Operator just needs to be aware of that. But the thing works Great!. Regulator i
s very sensitive so it is easily turned down. I was happy and surprised to be able to cook 48 cleaned crabs in 5 seperate cooks using a 1 gallon tank, and we still had some fuel left. Awesome!

Very happy with this burner!

This is the first burner i have ever bought and used. And, at the time of me leaving this review i have not yet used it. But i wanted to show how big it is because the pictures in the description doesn't do it justice. I have a large hand and a size 13 steel toe boot and you can see its size compared
to that. It is very sturdy. I feel it would have no problems at all with an extra large pot full of water or oil sitting on it. So far, i am very happy with this purchase and i feel you will be too
