Just finished my cycle and bought my first 4 fish to put in my 75 gallon cichlid tank and out of nowhere I get that algae bloom. Ordered the light, got it on Wednesday (first picture). It is the following Tuesday and my water is crystal clear. It was actually cleared by Sunday. I am cautious with off brand things, but this UV filter works. I was skeptical of this. I have a variety of small fish in a 20 gal tank. Plus snails who make a mess. This pump works amazing. I’ve been running it as a pump only with out the attached hose thing on top. I reached out to their customer support to verify it would work like this bc I didn’t like the amount of micro bubbles and noise it made with the hose on as an air pump. They got back in less than 24hours confirming you can use it without the air pump attachment. You can visually see the UV light on. It lights green. I kept the sponge inside bc I didn’t have green algae. My tank was just cloudy and dirty from the snails. I did clean the glass first and stirred the gravel a bit to get things moving. 2 days later. Crystal clear. I do have a hang on the back filter from petsmart that gets nasty pretty quick. This is a great addition for any tank. ... show more

DO NOT BUY! I was amazed by how well this filter worked for one month but once I had to clean it the tank was never clear again. Most filters sell replacement foam but this one is supposed to be cleaned and that just didn’t work (if another purchaser or the company has a suggestion I’m all ears!) The filter never smelled fresh again and it won’t clear my tank. ... show more

Love that it clears the water fast! Especially when we had live plants. But ... I can't seem to get the filter cover off! I've squeezed and pulled from both sides and it just won't budge. Does the unit have to be completely dry to get the cover to move? If I could easily remove the cover, I would give full stars. Oh and don't use with live plants either. They tend to gunk it up so it needs cleaning DAILY. Now that we've removed the live plants, it goes longer, tho I've not noted how long. Make it come apart easier but still stay together under water (a clip, maybe?) and I'd totally love it. I know.my turtle appreciates clear water in her tank. ... show more

I had doubts after 8-9 days of cloudy green water. Had the old filter running as well. Once I saw a little bit clearer I turned down the frequency and turned off the other filter. Now I’m looking at a tank full of Aqua fine’ crystal clear water. Super easy to start. I lowered it in the tank and it stuck hard to the surface of glass. Bubble keep the fish constantly clowning around. More than worth it. But will see how long the sponge filter lasts as well as the light. ... show more

This seems like a good filter but the water in my turtle tank doesn't go up high enough to cover the top of the filter. I tried to lay it down like it said you could but there are only suction cups on one end and it keeps floating up above the water line. I don't see a way to secure the other end. I'm going to have to return it. ... show more

The best, easy to use. My tank was green full of algae and didn’t know what to do, because I keep changing the water every few days and it was a nightmare because the water will turn green in a day or two.
