This is a good replacement net. It fit my long extension pole. Doesn't seem any more heavy duty than my old net but it is well made and slightly larger.

While this skimmer takes some getting used to, it really shines when picking up debris off the bottom of a pool. It "scoops" very well, hardly ever missing (after just a little practice). Just push the front of the net frame along the bottom and you end up with even tiny pieces pulled from the bottom and trapped in the net. The front of this net bracket works kind of like an airplane wing. It seems to create negative pressure of water that lifts foreign matter off the bottom and traps smaller/lighter pieces inside. Heavier pieces (like larger leaves) get physically scooped off the bottom by the leading edge of the plastic bracket that is in direct contact with the bottom. The two forces just make for a very good bottom cleaning tool. When skimming the water surface, it performs similarly to most other nets. It traps even the tiniest pieces of foreign matter. When flipped over and shook, the trapped material gets released from the net easier than other fine nets I have owned. I have not needed to run to the garden hose to rinse the net clean. As far as the negative points go, the entire thing is made of plastic. However it seems sturdy and well reinforced. I just hope it will hold up under the daily summer sun down here in South Florida. The UV down here can break down some plastics real quick, making them very brittle. I'll be sure to update this review if that happens. Oh yes, the plastic frame is a bit wider (for reinforcement) then most of the aluminum frame nets on the market. This makes for more "drag" when moving it through water. I hope this is something I just get used to. However, for some people this could be the downfall for this type of skimmer. (But, maybe this "effect" will help build my arm muscles better.)

I returned this item. I bought it because it was billed as ultra-fine. I would not term it as such. I needed a net that would catch all of the little bugs that make it through my screen enclosure and this wasn't it. As a general purpose net it would probably be great. It seems to be as well made as any net I've ever owned.

I bought this to replace the skimmer I already had where the net was coming out. This new skimmer is indeed heavy duty and well built it seems. I mean, down the road who knows, but for now it's doing a fantastic job. No debris gets thru this net and it takes a pounding when I get the debris out. I am so far extremely satisfied with this skimmer.
