  • Just what the doctor ordered.

  • WOW! THIS THING ROCKS!
Model: APOGEE JAM X
The first jam x I ordered was defective however I did purchase mine very soon after launch so it may just be a case of early adopter issues. Once I got the replacement I was shocked. This thing is awesome. I've put probably 30 hours through it this week and I've switched to it for my main interface. I have a scarlet solo and an audient id4. I've been maining the audient for the last year. If I had to tell you which has a better quality between the jam x and the id4 it would be tough, but the jam x has one major advantage, the analog compressor. I run several neural dsp plug-ins regularly and the jamx just makes things so much easier. All 3 presets are awesome, I can find a use for atleast 1 of the 3 in any of the tones I've used. Additionally, while I was having issues with my first jamx apogee support was fast in replying to my messages within 24 hours, they gave me good instructions and screenshots to troubleshoot things. If your on the fence thinking about buying this or not, give it a try it will surprise you. ... show more

  • A great and portable interface for my Guitars
Model: APOGEE JAM X
This is such a great and portable interface for my Guitars, The sound is so clear, and the compression really helps bring out the tonal characteristics of my guitars . It’s inspiring using the Archetype Tim Henson plugin as a standalone plugin. Now I can jam and sound awesome at the same time!

  • What’s the point of this unit?!
Model: APOGEE JAM X
I saw the asterisk that it only works with iPhone or regular iPad with an adapter cable. Rolled the dice and lost. Bought a special USB micro to lightning cable. Did not work. Took this on a long overseas trip solely so I could practice. Total fail. No store could help me, including electronics speciality stores. I gather that Apogee sells a special cable for $50 or so if you can find the link. I can’t. I already have better interfaces for use with my MacBook, without as many level setting or latency issues. Would have returned it but I’m past 30 days now since I was traveling. Not to mention my time wasted trying to get this to work. Right up there with worst money ever spent on music gadgets. ... show more

  • Great sound, super-simple to setup, fantastic option for recording on the go
Model: APOGEE JAM X
I had previously owned a different model portable audio interface for plugging my traveler guitar into my iPhone or iPad for recording while away for business. I had seen the Apogee Jam X a few times before and so when I needed a new option and was given the chance to try it out, I jumped at the opportunity. The Jam X really is an exceptional portable interface regardless of what level of player you are. It has a strong build and easy to figure out design. Connecting it to my phone and iPad was a breeze… it really is the definition of plug and play. I was recording on Garage Band within minutes of unboxing. The onboard compressor is really useful for making sure the sound is captured accurately and cleanly. I’ve been very happy with the audio quality in general and this has really been a fantastic experience recording on the road. I’ve also on occasion plugged it into my laptop when out of the studio and found that it is comparable with my higher end studio interface, though as a personal preference I wouldn’t really use this for final recordings. Overall, Apogee’s Jam X is an awesome option for any musician looking for a reliable, high-quality, portable audio interface. If you find yourself needing to record in remote settings or simply want to get out of the studio for a bit and still capture those gold moments on your instrument, you will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Convenient studio grade recording, compression and headphone amp / monitoring
Model: APOGEE JAM X
Top quality and Convenient studio grade recording. Don’t listen to all the bad reviews. I own many Apogee products for many years and I use this jam x everyday as a professional to lay down track ideas and for one on one lecturing. Top quality a/d conversion, top compression with 3 levels. Lets not forget top headphone amplification and monitoring. I heard on interviews that some big artists recorded guitar tracks for major albums. The color can be objective and the older USA units have rubber bottoms which is much better then plastic. ... show more

  • A must-have in every guitarist's gig bag.
Model: APOGEE JAM X
In an age when a computer DAW interface is a dime-a-dozen, what would one need another interface, especially when it's limited to a single 1/4" input like this Apogee Jam X? Two reasons, the portability and the built-in compressor. First, as a guitar player, I really appreciate having this interface with me anywhere. That way when an inspiration strikes, I can just plug my guitar into the Jam X and into my phone without having to dig out my interface and fire up my laptop. If you've been in a 12-person tour bus, you know that space is tight and there's really no room to quickly put together a recording rig. Moreover, a 2i2 style interface is too big to fit in your pocket. I ended up making a pouch on my guitar strap that the Jam X now lives so that way all I have to do is plug in the cable to the phone and start recording. Second, the compressor makes this interface much more useful. At first, I felt that the compressor was a gimmicky thing. Now that I've been using the interface, I find it to be incredibly helpful. I always have a compressor in-line when I play live or record my guitar/bass. Having a built-in compressor means I don't have to tax the processing power since I can remove one plug-in from the session. The compressor also sounds great with guitar and bass and I don't have to dig a compressor pedal or have a plug-in if I want to just do a quick recording. As stated in the headline, this interface is an essential tool that should be in every guitarist's gig bag. Highly recommended. ... show more
