Description

Fish continually release ammonia into the aquarium through their gills, urine and solid waste. Uneaten food and decaying organic matter also add ammonia to the water. Even small amounts of ammonia stress fish; large amounts of ammonia will kill fish. Ammonia is the 1 killer of freshwater fish. API AMMO-LOCK Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Ammonia Detoxifier works instantly to detoxify ammonia, chlorine, and chloramines in fresh and saltwater aquariums. API AMMO-LOCK Ammonia Detoxifier Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Treatment does not remove ammonia from water; it converts it to a non-toxic form. Aquarium water will show a reduction in ammonia on API Test Kits, but a 25% water change is still recommended after dosing. For best results, use as directed on the product label. If your aquarium tests positive for ammonia, do a partial water change, then neutralize the ammonia with API AMMO-LOCK Ammonia Detoxifier Aquarium Treatment. With API aquarium products, it’s easy to keep a beautiful saltwater, freshwater or reef aquarium. For almost 60 years API has developed premium solutions with proven and effective results for your family and ours. API offers a range of testing kits, water conditioners, and nutritionally superior food, because we’re dedicated to making a better underwater world. They work to provide a safe, hospitable environment for fish such as tropical community fish, cichlids, goldfish and more. At API, we understand the rewards and relaxation of fishkeeping because we have a passion for fish too.

  • Lifesaver for Fish Tanks - Ammonia Detoxifier Review
I recently introduced an ammonia detoxifier into my fish tank, and I can't express how relieved I am with the results. This product has truly been a game-changer in maintaining a healthy and balanced aquatic environment for my fish. The effectiveness of this ammonia detoxifier is remarkable. In no time at all, it neutralized the harmful ammonia levels in my tank, creating a safer and more comfortable habitat for my fish. I noticed a visible improvement in their behavior and vitality, which speaks volumes about the product's ability to alleviate stress and promote fish health. The ease of use is another standout feature. The instructions were clear and straightforward, making the application process a breeze. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced aquarist, the ammonia detoxifier is hassle-free and doesn't require any complex procedures. One of the best parts is that this product doesn't just mask the ammonia; it completely eliminates it. I appreciated the fact that it doesn't interfere with the accuracy of water tests or compromise the effectiveness of the tank's biological filtration system. It's a solution that addresses the root cause of ammonia issues rather than providing a temporary fix. The peace of mind that comes with using this ammonia detoxifier is immeasurable. I no longer worry about sudden spikes in ammonia levels harming my fish. It's like having an insurance policy for the well-being of my aquatic friends. Additionally, this ammonia detoxifier doesn't negatively impact the water quality. It doesn't cloud the water or create any unsightly residue, ensuring that my tank remains clear and pristine. In conclusion, the ammonia detoxifier I introduced to my fish tank has been a game-changer. Its effectiveness, ease of use, and ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for my fish have made it an indispensable addition to my aquarium maintenance routine. If you're an aquarium enthusiast looking for a reliable solution to manage ammonia levels, I highly recommend giving this ammonia detoxifier a try. Your fish will thank you for the clean and stress-free home you provide them! ... show more

  • Great product.
Very good value for money, especially at bait fish prices today. Water quality went from very bad to great overnight. Stopped the losses immediately. Thank you so very much for this super awesome product.

  • Didn't completely remove ammonia
I bought this when I had a spike in my ammonia levels in my fish tank. It worked to help bring the ammonia level down, while I was doing water changes. It never completely removed the ammonia though, but it did drastically lower them. It helped to keep the fish alive and stable while doing water changes, so for that I would buy it again, if ever needed. ... show more

  • Dramatically reduced ammonia
I was having awful ammonia problems in my tank, despite it A) not being overstocked B) not overfeeding C) no dying plants. I was doing daily water changes (45%) and the ammonia was still building up. Even after replacing the filter (the filter did need replacing) the ammonia was still building up though not as fast as before. For a tank that I've had set up for two months now, it was really frustrating how it wouldn't cycle properly. What I did was change the water, then put in the ammo lock along with two other API products, stress coat+ and quick start. I think it helps to use ammo lock with other API products, since they do make their products "work together". Anyway, I did this once a day, every day for 4 days. On day four ammonia was at 0ppm. You can't just put ammo lock in and forget about it though. Ammonia builds upon ammonia, so you still have to do water changes to get it all out of the tank. Having the nitrifying bacteria helps to make the conversion of remaining ammonia to nitrate more manageable for the tank. ... show more

  • Works quickly
I have a 2 gallon tank with a Betta and snail. Some plants and a strong enough filter. I don’t think I over feed and clean up leftovers before turning the filter back on. I removed any dead or rotting plant pieces and did a partial water change. I used non chlorinated tap water. The next day the ammonia levels on detector were worse. I swapped out a little bit more water and expected a change. Nothing! I ordered this product it came next day. I was so concerned because directions are for a ratio of a ten gallon tank. My brain does not work well first thing in the morning and I was not going to start mixing up 10 gallons of water either. If you’re in the same boat, fear not. I’ve got you covered. I have included in pictures that the cap has measurements for 1,5 and 10 milliliters. 1ml. of solution per 2 gallons of water, 5ml. Solution per 10 gallons of water and 10ml. Solution per 20 gallons of water. Basically whatever gallons your tank is, divide in half and that number is the amount of ml. needed. Ammonia levels were reduced in minutes. ... show more

  • This solved my amonia problem
I have had my freshwater tank since 2018 and never had an ammonia problem like this before. For about 3 months I've tried everything. I guess the ammonia problem was caused because I increased fish, but I have no idea because I have a 100 gallon external filter on my 20 gallon tank. Anyway, the problem was persistent ammonia even after a 25 or 50 % water change it would creep back up in 1 day. I tried adding media specific for ammonia and nothing helped, for weeks, and months Desperate to solve this, I bought Ammo Lock because I was leaving town for a week. Immediately my ammonia test results went from green to yellow. I also put in a 1 year ammonia meter and it is indicating yellow as well. Typically, I change the water weekly, and I will include this in my routine from now on. Nothing else was making the ammonia manageable before this. Highly recommend. ... show more
