  • Almost perfect! Does not fit more than 2 Snowboards, but plenty room for Skis. Locks stick in cold weather.
SNOWBOARDERS: This will only fit 2 full size snowboards, plus skis or other small items. Will not fit 3 adult snowboards. We use it to fit 2 adult Snowboards and a toddler snowboard, and it works well for that, but we have no space for additional boards, so we can't bring both powder and park boards, or friends with us unless they only Ski. INSTALL: Was annoying, but not difficult to install - lots of re-positioning and tightening screws, but fit perfectly on an oldschool Yakima Q-Tower system. LOCKS: Comes with Lock-cores built-in (you don't have to buy separate locks like with a factory Yakima system). Unfortunately the locks sometimes stick when frozen or the weather is very cold, and the keys are poor quality and bend easily. CONCLUSION: Overall a great buy. Our Yakima factory Rack broke after 4 years of use, and would have cost 4-5 times as much to replace. At $80 this was a steal and we're fairly happy with it. Would recommend as long as you don't have more than 2 adult Snowboarders! ... show more

  • Nice Ski Racks And Great Price too!
We have two trips on these ski racks and they work just fine! After reading all of the negative reviews, we decided to order anyway. I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. These are your standard, durable, ski racks - they do the job perfectly! (1) Holds 3-4 pairs of skis (2) Closes snug and holds skis in place (3) Love the Red Release Tabs for easy ground level operation (4) Sub-Zero weather and the locks opened and closed flawlessly. Yes, WD-40 locks first (5) Easy to mount on ski rails, clamps rack tight (6) NO wind whistling noises at high speeds (7) Perfect shorter width. NOW, what the racks DON'T include that in my opinion is a must: 8 Hex Locking Nuts for the underside of each mounting clamp (normal non-locking nuts are included) / 8 surface washers for added support on top of each clamp / 8 rubber caps to cover bolt ends. Rust? Yes, ALL ski racks rust over time. Those areas can be coated to resist rust. OVER RATING: 8.5 out of 10. If you're looking for an inexpensive ski rack that does the job, these are a winner. ... show more

  • excellent purchase
I usually wait a few months before reviewing a product but I am writing this review after installation. The ski rack is for an Infiniti QX50. The installation was straight forward. This is a standard rack. It doesn't slide out from the base to give you access to your skis when installed on a full size vehicle. It is perfect for a small SUV or car. I put a snowboard and a pair of skis in the rack. I pulled the skis from the side of the vehicle and the entire vehicle started rocking. The ski rack is heavy duty. The lock is fixed lock. More expensive brands have removable locks but.....they are a lot more expensive. I ski about 100 days a year and I don't have the time to switch ski racks on vehicles so every vehicle has it's own ski rack. I think this rack is perfect for my QX50. I will update sometime in December. ... show more

  • Broke on install and DAMAGED my car 😡
Cheap plastic lead to a complete failure during installation. When tightening one of the screws, which is supported only by thin plastic on the top, the plastic snapped and the bolt slapped down on the roof of my car and put a large dent in it, also removing paint. Getting a replacement but doubt my fears of any of the bolts/plastic suddenly snapping will subside. Also, they do whistle while at 40mph+ but it isn't noticeable in my Jeep unless windows are down. As mentioned in other reviews, it is hard to get skiis locked in though it didn't bother me. They did feel "secure" even though I had to rig a fix for the broken part. ... show more

  • Decent and Fits Dodge Stow and Go Bars
Heavy duty rack, weighs much more than expected. Installation was pretty easy without looking at the instructions. Fit fine on my factory storable 2014 dodge durango cross bars and looks like they can handle a broad range of cross bar sizes. A couple gripes: one of them doesn't stay shut so I have to keep them locked pretty much at all times, not a huge deal but I worry about long term durability of the latches. It also sits higher on the car than I expected. I think my garage door is average height and I have about an inch clearance with the rack itself and when I have skis in it the bindings brush against the door edge. Otherwise, cost is much cheaper than many other options out there so I'm content. ... show more

  • Everything seemed to work fine before i left for my ski trip
I used this product for the first time this past weekend. Everything seemed to work fine before i left for my ski trip. By the time i reached the ski area, both latch mechanisms were stuck and i could not get my skis off the rack. The lock cylinders seemed to work but the latches would not release. I had to destroy the latch mechanism on the aft rack to retrieve my skis, otherwise i would have had to rent skis. The temperature at the ski area was 30 deg F so not really that cold for ski conditions. Upon returning home and in my warm garage, the front latch still doesn't work and i can not open the latch. Strongly recommend against buying this product. ... show more

Good product. Would be nice if the screws that attach the racks to the crossbars were twist off screws for easier removal since many people will want to remove them between ski trips (for car washes, etc.). I plan to replace existing hex set screws with large plastic twist knobs that will enable them to be tightly affixed but removable without a hex wrench. But they work well. ... show more

  • Solid product for a small price
Fits my use perfectly. I only need these 2 months a year. These are constructed well, solid and, comfortably hold 3 to 4 pairs of ski's. Be careful with the locking mechanism. Make sure that you push down on the top rail and then lock. If the key does not want to turn, try again. They lock perfectly if you push the top rail down just far enough. I sprayed a bit of WD-40 into the keyhole after which they lock perfectly every time. These were installed on my 2018 VW Atlas on top of of the Summates Universal Roof Top Cargo Rack Cross Bars-1Pair (55" Cross Bar) . Perfect fit. ... show more
